Forest Pies Festival(Festivalul plăcintelor Pădurenești) in Poiana Răchițelii(Hunedoara county)Romania
Hello dear travelers
Today's journey will be one in which I will show you a traditional market specially created for the traditional forest pies, a culinary specialty specific to this area.
But let me tell you how I got to this festival.
As the name says, this area stretches only through spectacular forests, where from time to time in the glades we could see hay huts made by locals.
Easy on narrow mountain roads after about 40 kilometers we reach the village of Cerbăl, Poiana Răchițelii commune, because this is where the event takes place, these 40 kilometers we traveled in over an hour because I had to pay great attention to driving.
Upon entering the village we were directed to a public parking lot specially set up to accommodate the cars coming to the festival, and believe me there were hundreds of cars parked on the hill, I was lucky to get a spot close to the main road, otherwise I would have needed a 4X4.
Let's take a walk among the stalls with local products specific to this festival, but before we got there we savored an ice cream, it was over 30 degrees outside and an ice cream fell just right.
We arrived just before the starting time of the festival, because in addition to the parade of the popular costumes of the people from this area there was also a folkloric show with very well known artists.
We didn't stay so long here because I didn't like the power of the sun (I'm more sensitive), but let's not forget what we came here for, yes, the traditional Pădurenești pies.
These pies are made from a dough that is filled with sweet or salted cheese that is toasted on a wood-fired oven.
Of course I bought some, a single pie costs 10 lei/2 euro, but they are very delicious, they give you a rainbow on your mouth.
I have to tell you that the locals are so friendly and they answered any questions we had, we even met some nice people here, considering that these villages are quite isolated and are not visited by tourists.
We had pleasant company here among the locals so we spent more than two hours here, after which we headed back home.
On the way back we found a great place to take photos, a swing with mountains in the back and an adventure park in the trees by the side of the road, all free.
My dear adventurers, our visit to the Forest Pies Festival has come to an end.
THE END!

Beautiful place and nature. I love forest and pies so this is the perfect place for me! 😊 I make a pie in a similar way and I am sure they were very tasty!😊
Thank you so much for stopping by and yes, I'm glad to see we have so much in common gastronomically, the truth is that these traditional pies are delicious.
You know, I am very happy to see that here, in some parts of Romania, the traditions of yesteryear are still preserved, and I can tell you from experience that many of our customs have disappeared.
Thank you very much @dimascastillo90 and @visualshots team.
You're most welcome :)
Greetings over here 😁 nature is certainly a dominant beauty there. Everywhere you look at it. My favourite picture is the first one, where those two thatched mounds are, it reminded me of a Monet painting called "Almiares". Thanks for the tour and the photographic record.
I am a big nature lover and yes, you will see a lot of posts here that will focus on nature, I'm really glad you liked my post about this traditional festival .
Thank you very much for your visit.
