Dancing House, a futuristic building in Prague, the Czech capital
Dancing House, a futuristic building in Prague, the Czech capital
Any journey leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller. - Ibn Battuta
Hello everyone
I still remember last December's visit to the Czech capital, Prague, where I spent unforgettable moments.
Prague is an amazing European capital, I have to say this in every post I make from this place, it is very safe, amazing architecture, paved streets, it has extremely well laid out public transport, because of this I do not recommend that you travel around Prague by car/taxi/uber, you can buy a ticket for a ride or you can get a kind of 24 hour ticket, as we bought this kind of ticket from the hotel reception.
Today we will go together to admire from the banks of the Vltava River, the "Dancing House", and after climbing to the seventh floor we will admire Prague from above.
The Dancing House (Tančící dům) or "Fred and Ginger" is a unique concept of a Czech and an American architect, the result I say is amazing.
How did we get here?
From the hotel where we were accommodated (in a next post I will present you the hotel where we had our accommodation), we walked about 200m to the tram station and then we took tram number 17 or 21, both of them will take you exactly to the tram station in front of this building.
I have to admit that this sight was not on the short list of what we wanted to visit in Prague, but somehow things worked out so that we had some free time left and as public transport here works perfectly we decided to visit it.
I love so much to sit in the tram and look out the window at buildings with amazing architecture, maintained buildings, sometimes it makes me dream, it seems that urban development has been done according to some strict rules regarding architecture.
The Dancing House is an office building consisting of a glass and a concrete building, a futuristic image, and on the seventh floor there is a gorgeous open terrace.
Address: Rasinovo, Nabrezi 80
Transport:Tram line 17 (Karlovo Namesti station)
From the moment we got off the tram we were amazed at how beautiful the Dancing House is, we walked briskly across the street, excited about what we would find there, dying of curiosity if we could go upstairs, because we didn't have much information.
At the entrance on the white ceiling we were greeted by a huge fly (I noticed that some people were scared of it, others didn't even notice it), inside we could see an exhibition with different drawings, but here a motorcycle caught my attention, we took some pictures and continued up some stairs leading to the elevator that takes you up to the seventh floor.
Everything went very well, after we got off the elevator we entered a very nice restaurant called Ginger & Fred Restaurant where you could see the whole city, we had to wait to be taken to the table, the girl at the bar seeing that we are tourists told us that if we want to go out on the terrace will have to pay a fee of 100kc or have a drink at the bar and based on the voucher received we could go out on the terrace.
We enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate and a juice and then went outside on the terrace, wow, what a view of the Vltava river and the bridges over it, the imposing buildings, the only minus was that we didn't get a sunny day and most of the day it was cloudy and quite cold and up at this height it was blowing and the wind made it a bit more difficult for us to stay for long on the outdoor terrace.
Somewhere back at the top of the hill you can see the Petrin tower.
It was the holiday season and everything was full of Christmas decorations, actually visiting the Dancing House I lived a story on the wings of the wind.
Dear travelers, I hope you enjoyed the Dancing House and why not if you happen to be in Prague to take a trip here, it is really worth it.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone in Prague, and the text is also designed by me.
Yours @triplug!
Thank you very much @ackhoo and @qurator team, I greatly appreciate your support.
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
Truly, an amazing architecture!
Some years ago, I browsed the web and made an article about strange and wierd buildings from around the globe. If I were to make one again, this will definitely in that list.
I just hope this building don't dance the Boogie while there are people in it. LOL!
Thank you so much for stopping by, and yes, I'm glad my post can inspire you, more I wish you luck in your search for quirky buildings.
While we were there we wanted to do a waltz, but no one had the guts, let alone this building, hehe.
Cheers from Romania.
winter prague is quite gray and no snow, in summer it must be extremely green and fun:)
Summer is a beautiful season in general with lots of sunshine and indeed lots of green, Prague and the Czech Republic in general is beautiful any time of the year, thanks for visiting.
The Dancing House is a true architectural masterpiece! The unique design really makes it stand out among the other buildings. I went to Prague once but due to poor planning, didn't manage to visit the Dancing House :(
I'm glad you like the Dancing House, and next time you're in Prague don't forget to go there, it's worth it.
Wow the dancing house is so wonderful, technology is something else, A dancing house??
Nice shot @triplug
If you take a closer look at the two buildings you can imagine two dancers, that's how the Dancing House was born, hehe.
Thanks for stopping by.
I know that this is one of the landmarks of Prague but I have never admired this construction. It simply doesn't fit the vibe of the buildings surrounding it. On the other hand, the views are amazing. It's one of the best places to admire the old town and its location next to the river is also great! I must admit that I have never been in the restaurant but after seeing you photos I will have to pay it a visit! 🙂
Thank you for sharing!
You're absolutely right, the view from the terrace of this lens is amazing, and we had a hot chocolate and a coke and admired everything around, for minutes.
Thanks for visiting :)

Very creative
Awesome! Glad you had such a nice time in the Dancing House, I haven´t actually been inside myself yet, although I have spent a total of almost 4 years in Prague, that´s funny :) Btw were you here with @missdeli and her husband? She has published some very cool posts about their recent trip to Prague and she said another couple was with them so I guess it was you? :)
@tipu curate
Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 7/47) Liquid rewards.
You guessed it right, we are friends and from time to time we travel together.
Oh I can't believe you haven't been up to the terrace of the Dancing House in 4 years? :)
Btw I visited Prague only once but I fell in love with it, I still have to write a few more posts about the places and activities I had there, and I will definitely come back again.
Thank you very much for Upvote
Cool that you have friends to travel with who are also on Hive, despite my onboarding efforts, not many of my real life friends are active here on Hive :D :/
Well, with the Dancing House, I think that many people who live in touristy cities like Prague actually haven´t visited all the touristy spots in the city :) We usually tend to avoid the city center because it´s so crowded (and expensive)...
I have to admit that the HIVE "bug" was implanted in me by @missdeli plus unconditional support from her and extremely hard work on my part, however I am very happy to be here and will be until I can cope.
I generally travel as long as I have money, I've had this hobby for a while, and I said why not share my experiences with others.
I don't really like to visit very crowded places either, but I generally choose periods not in full season so that I can visit a place quietly and enjoy it.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Good to have you here guys :) All of you.
I'm glad to be here too :)
Hey hey 😋
I saw triplug replyed to you already. But Yes, he and his wife were the other couple I was mentioning about.
Seeing his pictures, they kind of look alike right? No wonder you thought of me. 🤗😅
Yeah, the Lennon Wall and then the Dancing House, I was like... wait a minute :D But it´s all good! I like to read about your adventure from different perspectives :)
I think both me and triplug were amazed by Prague. I really loved it and I mean it.
Are you two interacting here on hive sometimes? If so, I didnt realize. 😁 else I would have tell you that I was with triplug.
Her wife is my best friend actually. We've been known each other for like 16 years, from highschool and we remained best friends. They are together back from those days hehe.
I told triplug abiut hive only one year and a half ago, too bad I didnt tell him earlier. Didn realize he would enjoy it as much as he does now.
I have 5 yrs on the blockchain but he was so engaged and hard working. Didnt count them, but I think he has more posts in 1.5 yrs than I have in 5. Lol.
Kids...thats what got me back from posting hehe. But its totally worthed.
Anyways, we had a great time in your city. Maybe our paths will cross someday.
Take care of you and you girl!
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Yes, me and @triplug sometimes comment on each other´s posts, he has a great content :) Glad you guys enjoyed your time in Prague. I will be happy to show you around next time :) Cheers.
In the excitement we had during our days in Prague we completely forgot that it is possible that someone here in the community is even from Prague, we could all have a coffee together, maybe next time because we still have some sights to see.
These days I haven't even had my laptop with me to write or post anything.
I still have some interesting posts to write about our holiday in Prague.
Cheers 😊
Totally understandable, no problem :) In fact, there is a bunch of other Hivers living here in Prague but they tend to write and engage only in the Czech community. I´m more "internationally oriented" :D
Here in Hive I didn't find a Romanian community where I could post only places from Romania, but even so I couldn't post only posts from here because I travel quite a lot outside the country in general through Europe, so I couldn't limit myself to posting only stuff from RO.
I've seen this building at least 4 times since I'm on the chain but I still can't get enough of it but actually hope that I'll visit it by myself one day too :)
Opinions about this building are divided, some say it doesn't fit the architecture of the area, others say it's perfect there, and now I come and say it's fabulous.
Don't worry there are so many flights to Prague, that from Sibiu you immediately get here, so pack your bags and book your next flight, hehe.
This building is so cool. I dream of visiting Prague one day.
Indeed, this building looks amazing, seeing that you are from Brazil it is a bit more difficult to get to the Czech Republic, but, never give up on your dreams.
Thanks for stopping by.
hello
looks like you had a nice time
if there is opportunity Prague seems like a good destination
Dancing house is such unique building, after seeing it so many times on photos maybe it is time to visit
it is worth to mention that one of the architects of Dancing house is Frank Gehry ( other is Vlado Milunić) - his other works quite interesting as well
Any architecture student that did not see it was most probably skipping many lessons
have a nice day
Thank you very much for stopping by, the Dancing House is truly amazing and she and those who created it, I didn't go into too many details in the post to avoid boredom, there is a lot to say about the place it was built, about the two architects (one Czech of Croatian origin and the other American), the construction was made on the site of a former house that was bombed during the Second World War) and many other technical details, I actually wrote about my experience here .
you are right of course, it is about your trip
just when some architect sees this building Frank Gehry is most probably first thing to come to their mind - nothing wrong with your post
have a nice day
Thank you for stopping by.
Have a wonderful start to the week.
what a wild looking building!
The building itself is an amazing concept, personally when I look at the building I have the impression that I see two dancers, dancing a Viennese waltz, hehe.
Thank you for visiting.
The architecture of this building is so nice and one can easily stop by to click a pic. Water side photos are awesome too.

Thank you very much for stopping by, and yes, you're right, the view it offers you when I'm up there on the terrace is wow.
This place is so good and the weather also seems to be good. The main attraction is the building design that one can not ignore in the first place.

At first, I wonder what kind of dance the house is dancing 🤔 is it a dance that reigned when the building was constructed, or is it a modern dance, or a future dance? 😅😅😅
Which era of ever dance its doing, it is such a lovely and terrific sight to behold.
Architectural designs like this lead us to wonder and marvel at human creativity and how far we can go out of our way to make outstanding designs.
I'm sure you enjoyed your vacation as evidenced in the lovely pictures you've shared with us.

My guess is the House is dancing a Viennese waltz, Its architecture is amazing, I really enjoyed visiting it.
From your photos, Prague is certainly a beautiful place. And it's fascinating, the Dancing House! To me it's an architectural wonder :) Thank you for this virtual tour which allowed us to see the beauty of Prague.

Prague is one of my favourite European cities and your post reminds me that I have not been there since COVID!
I love going there in the Winter and actually spent Christmas there in 2017!
What a funky building though, if you saw after drinking too many of the Czech beers you might bethanking wtf!

Since I visited Prague I have beautiful memories so this city entered my top favorite European cities.
Wow, it's a very beautiful city, the city is very neat, clean and has buildings and very beautiful streets, every corner of the city has its own beauty to enjoy, if there is a chance I want to go there one day
Indeed, Prague is amazing, it is clean, it has spectacular architecture, it is worth visiting.
I wish you good luck in visiting this country.
