A quiet corner ,,La Moara la Niculai,,(At Niculai's mill), Vadu Izei, Romania

Hello travelers from all over the world

Today we will go to Vadu Izei on the Mara river where we will visit the guesthouse La Moara la Niculai, but the main objective is not the guesthouse or the accommodation at the guesthouse but I want to share with you the unique activities and experiences that you can find here.

Pensions are plentiful in this area, but if you come here you can also enjoy some very interesting activities.

Being a rather big guesthouse you can come with your car, you will surely find a parking place.

Please note that if you come here to experience the different activities here you have to pay a fee of 3lei/0,60euro/person.

Being a bit tired from the road the first thing we did here was to sit at a table and hydrate a bit.

Sitting around the table, I had a look around the courtyard and I could see that everything traditional is highly valued here.

So the first time we set our eyes and decided to see how a traditional washing machine (vâltoare) works, don't be under any illusions that I'm going to show you some rusty washing machine, no, the traditional washing machine is one located on a river and includes a water mill.

Here locals can come to wash their traditional clothes, but also their woolen quilts, by the way, I almost forgot, this traditional washing machine doesn't use laundry detergent.

The second place visited is the distillery, here the locals produce a local alcoholic drink, the taste is unique and only here you will find it, and yes, it is HORINCA, an alcoholic drink made from fermented plums, pears, apples and other fruits, of course HORINCA has its secrets to be obtained the unique taste.

I'm curious if you've seen the distillery facility elsewhere in the world.

For our final activities today we left the mill and the workshop where different wooden objects are produced.

I love to see how wheat or corn flour is made and of course to see a piece of wood come to life thanks to the talented hands of a local.

In the conclusion of today's post I can say that all the activities that can be done here are recommended for both children and adults, and certainly if you are not staying here you can come just to explore those traditional activities.
