Visit Portugal - Melres Marina

I visited the Marina de Melres, a peaceful spot along the Douro River that's perfect for a quiet escape. With the warm autumn sun shining and a gentle breeze in the air, the day felt almost magical.

The day could not have been more perfect. The sun was shining brightly, illuminating the vibrant colours of autumn that surrounded the area. Though we were well into the fall season, the temperature was incredibly pleasant, not too hot and not too cold, just that perfect balance where you can comfortably be outside all day.

O dia não podia ter sido mais perfeito. O sol brilhava intensamente, iluminando as cores vibrantes do outono que rodeavam a zona. Embora já estivéssemos no Outono, a temperatura estava incrivelmente agradável, nem demasiado quente, nem demasiado fria, apenas aquele equilíbrio perfeito onde se pode estar confortavelmente ao ar livre durante todo o dia.

As I arrived at the marina, I was instantly captivated by the serene setting. The Douro River stretched before me, wide and calm, its water shimmering under the sun. There's something about the Douro that never loses its magic and today was no exception. The gentle ripples on the water surface reflected the sunlight in a way that made the entire scene look like it had been painted by an artist. Its no wonder people fall in love with this place.

Ao chegar à marina, fiquei instantaneamente cativado pelo ambiente sereno. O rio Douro estendia-se diante de mim, largo e calmo, as suas águas brilhando sob o sol. Há algo no Douro que nunca perde a sua magia e hoje não foi exceção. As suaves ondulações na superfície da água refletiam a luz solar de uma forma que fazia com que toda a cena parecesse ter sido pintada por um artista. Não é à toa que as pessoas se apaixonam por este lugar.

At the marina, several boats were anchored, each one adding to the picturesque view. Some were small and sporty, clearly ready for adventure, while others were larger and more luxurious, likely meant for a peaceful cruise down the river. The boats gently bobbed with the movement of the water. Their colors stood out against the deep blue of the water and the earthy tones of the surrounding landscape.

Na marina, vários barcos estavam ancorados, cada um contribuindo para a vista pitoresca. Alguns eram pequenos e desportivos, claramente prontos para a aventura, enquanto outros eram maiores e mais luxuosos, provavelmente destinados a um cruzeiro tranquilo rio abaixo. Os barcos balançavam suavemente com o movimento da água. As suas cores destacavam-se no azul profundo da água e nos tons terra da paisagem circundante.

One of the things that struck me the most was how calm the area was. The only sounds were the soft lapping of the water against the boats and the distant calls of birds. It was the perfect place to escape the noise and rush of everyday life and just reconnect with nature.

Uma das coisas que mais me impressionou foi a calma da região. Os únicos sons eram o suave bater da água contra os barcos e os cantos longínquos dos pássaros. Era o local perfeito para fugir do barulho e da correria do dia a dia e simplesmente voltar a conectar-se com a natureza.

Before I left, I took one last look at the fluvial beach of Melres. It lay peacefully along the riverbank, a gentle stretch of sand meeting the calm waters of the Douro. Even in autumn, the beach had its own charm, with a few people strolling along the edge and others simply enjoying the view. The golden leaves from nearby trees scattered across the sand, adding a warm touch to the scene.

Antes de partir, dei uma última vista de olhos à praia fluvial de Melres. Situava-se tranquilamente junto à margem do rio, uma suave extensão de areia encontrando as águas calmas do Douro. Mesmo no outono, a praia tinha um encanto muito próprio, com algumas pessoas a passear pela marginal e outras simplesmente a apreciar a vista. As folhas douradas das árvores próximas espalhadas pela areia, acrescentando um toque caloroso à cena.

There was something magical about the combination of the beach and the river here. It wasn't a bustling summer beach full of activity, but rather a tranquil spot where you could hear the soft flow of the water and the quiet rustling of leaves.
