A walk not quite to Kewstoke, UK
I miss going on my hikes, in fact I miss going out. Since Covid, I've been so used to staying in that it almost feels alien going to anywhere other than the shops to get my grocery. It doesn't help that I don't have a car so I'm pretty restricted to where I can go. Luckily, I live quite rural'ish by the sea side, and there are some nice places I can go by foot.
Today I dragged myself out for a walk, the first I've done so for a few months ago. This area is called Weston Woods, the same place I went to last time.
And my destination today is a place called Kewstoke. It's a little village by a coast called Sandbay that's why people often call it Kewstoke and Sandbay even though they're two different places.
Weston Woods is ancient. And by ancient I mean Iron Age which in UK refers to the period 800 BC to AD43. In my last post I went to the site of the iron age fort, this time I took a different route as the woods is quite big.
My walk is pretty much along the side of the road towards Kewstoke. This is what the initial sections looks like, the road is on the left, and the Bristol Channel further on the left. As the walk continues, the road and my path starts to diverge and the road it shielded by the thick ancient woodland.
With England being England, it's not that often we get fantastic weather. Personally I'm not a big fan of the bright sun, maybe that's an Asian thing as I tan quite easily and am too lazy to put on any sunscreen. When I'm inside the woods, that's a different story. That's not because I'm under the shade, but I love how the sun peeps through the trees, flickering on and off as the wind blows into the tree tops. I stood there watching the light show, sparkles dancing on the ground, accompanied by the music from birds tweeting and winds singing. It was absolutely mesmerizing.
The path to Kewstoke is very straight forward, one direction only, you can't go wrong or get lost. There's even benches en route to sit and rest, or just to sit and immerse yourself in nature.
One thing that I wasn't expecting in the deep woods was a BMX jump area. There were two sets of ramps of different heights. One set was a lot higher and bumpier for the more advanced cyclist. The other set near to where I was standing was a bit friendlier, but not something that I fancy trying out. That said, it didn't seem to be an isue for the kids practicing here, they were having a cracking time!
This was a short walk and it only took me about 40 minutes. I got to the end of the path and met up with the road. Kewstoke was just ahead of me.
Actually I never made it to Keswtoke Village in the end. I dropped by a cafe for tea instead. I just couldn't resist it as it's the first time I've gone out for absolutely ages. We sat outside on the terrace facing Kewstoke Village, so I guess you could sort of say I did make it to Kewstoke 😊
It felt so good going out today, sitting down for a cup of tea like normal times. I should do it more.

I'm going try to get to Sandbay and Kewstoke village next time. How's home home? Hope all is well, Melbourne seems like a hot spot now. Does it follow you back.......
Take care

Haha yeah maybe it came back in my suitcase...
Oh hot spot is relative right? So few cases compared to UK, it's just the reaction that's extreme. Sigh....
that's true, in terms of numbers it doesn't seem high in Australia compared to UK. Don't know if its a good or bad thing many Brits don't take it too seriously

tokens. Now I envy you. Such a nice place! I haven't been out of the city much, so obviously I love reading these travel posts.
Looks like the perfect place to have some fresh air and relax, forget about the madness that is going on.
I'm trying to slowly ease back into life now, figured I can't lock myself in all the time. Just need to be very careful.

A lot of people felt the same way, and it's because of this pandemic, it's good that you were able to have a walk for we really need it to be able to inhale fresh air and for our body to be recharged to be able to keep going.
As I look at those photos, I can say such place is quite the same as our place here in the Philippines, the woods, the road looks the same maybe the only difference is the temperature.
My impression of the Philippines is always about beaches, but with so many natural resources, I'm sure you guys have some beautiful woods as well. I'll stick with the UK not too hot weather, but definitely would like to experience the Philippines woods some day.

I will try to blog about it soon and will tag you.
