It's trying to tell us something!

This is a really interesting organism I learnt about today! A true quirk of nature!

Meet Hieroglyphic Lioconcha, a species of saltwater clam best known for its unique markings, often giving the appearance of cuneiform or hieroglyphs:

Yep, the photos above are totally real. These unique markings are the result of natural pigmentation patterns and not an elaborate prank or something.

The species occurs in sandy and swallow waters of Hawaii, Philippines and the Marshall Islands. The shells reach a maximum length of about 4.2 cm and each individual comes with its own distinct markings...Or story if you want to be more gay romantic.

Other than their unique appearance, there's nothing else particularly interesting to say about these mollusks. Feel free to Google their species name if you would like to learn more about them!

It's fascinating what mother nature sometimes comes up with!

Out of curiosity, I checked how much they go online

Over 15 $ a piece on Etsy! Not bad!

As always, see you soon with more strange animals 😎

That pigmentation is very nice, we got them with exact same shape but different colors

Not bad, very good. Let's wait until this organism mutates to write inscriptions in the Latin alphabet.

Time to move to Hawaii, go to beach every day to collect those shells and sell them online. Retirement at it's finest! lol

It's the new btc. Just make sure to lead them to extinction to cause scarcity

It's like having nature make art. Those are nice collectible pieces. Each piece unique in its own way.

It's an interesting shell. I guess the locals there can just pick them up and sell them if you go around looking.

Wow, look more like a tatoo of an ancient writing. This is indeed a natures wonder. I feel this shell will be good for decoration. Thanks for the #brainupdate friend

So nature invented writing before humans did!?

I wonder how vastly their patterns can vary, it would be cool if there are some specifically rare ones that have been found.

But if they are unique, then in a way they are all the rarest of the rare.
