The Story - Mama’s Pet

Down the lane, there lived an aged woman. She was living alone because her children (who were girls were grown up and had married.) Her husband was late. Mama’s daughters were worried about Mama living in the house alone because of loneliness. married and living with their husbands. They usually came around with their children to keep her company. In an attempt to solve the problem of loneliness for Mama, they brought in a tenant to live with Mama.

Mama was a perfectionist. It wasn't easy to please her over everything. And she complained over everything that wasn't keeping to her standard. So, the tenant didn't live for long with Mama. Still trying to make sure there was someone keeping Mama company, the daughters employed a house maid for Mama. Even that one did not still work.

One virtue Mama had was that she had no fear living in the house alone. Mama wasn't someone who was easily tormented by fear. Mama was a very courageous person. She lived in the house all alone without any dread or fear.

One day, Nena, Mama’s second daughter visited Mama with a puppy. The puppy became Mama's favorite. Mama named the puppy Paya. Paya became Mama's lovely companion. It made Mama's life happy. The children were surprised the way Mama enjoyed the companion of Paya. The fear of Mama being lonely left the children. Everyone was happy because there wasn't any more fear of loneliness with Mama.

Mama wasn't money or afraid. It is what her daughters thought. They didn't know their mother well.

Our aged parents need a company, a dog can do the job perfectly well.

I commend daughter Nena for presenting dog Paya to address her mother's loneliness.
