Money can't buy happiness

I used to often hear a term that reads "Money can't buy happiness". I'm sure all of you have heard of this term. This term has been around for a long time. Even in some classic 80s films, words like this are often spoken by actors in the film.

I used to think that the term was just bullshit. If I have a lot of money, I can buy whatever I want, so that makes me happy. But after today, at the age of 18, I have witnessed that the term is real.

This term is evidenced by what happened to my uncle. Let me tell you a little. My uncle lives in the city of Surabaya, I just graduated from high school and now work at my uncle's restaurant. At first, life in his family went as normal as usual. But the atmosphere at my uncle's house which I also live in is now cold.

It happened when my uncle's wife had a new business. The business managed by his wife is growing quite well, and their economic improvement is also very fast. Even so, their relationship became strained. Even suspicions arose in my uncle's mind.

I believe that my uncle's wife is a good woman. However, his wife's business partners are 95% male, so they deal more with men in communicating in business matters. Even so, my uncle didn't like it when his wife chatted with other men.

For some reason, I could understand the pain inside my uncle. Usually, I don't care about other people's feelings, much less about their domestic matters. But lately, I can feel the pain my uncle is going through even though he doesn't tell me about it.

I can feel it because I see changes in his facial expressions, behaviour, and speech, even though I don't experience it. The atmosphere in the house which was once warm is now cold. There is no more communication and jokes in their family. This is where I understand that "money can't buy happiness". Even if you have a lot of money and can afford anything, it's useless if you don't get along with your loved one.

I hope and pray for my uncle and his wife, that harmony will return to the way it used to be. Like a family in general, which is filled with the warmth and love of the family. Thank you for taking the time to read. May there be wisdom in every incident. Regards.
