Finds at FanX Salt Lake 2023

It's been a while since I have written anything on my blog. I decided to take a break from Hive some time ago because I was bored of writing. I couldn't even be bothered to automate the tasks on the chain. It felt good to not care about the drama and sameness day in and day out.

One of the more fun things I did last month was attending the 2023 FanX Salt Lake Comic & Pop Culture Convention. Some of you probably remember this as the Salt Lake Comic Con. Thanks to the pandemic, I didn't get a chance to attend it with friends for several years. Well, I found time to browse the vendors' section this year.

The worst part about getting to the convention was parking. I chose to swing by around noon on a Friday, and it took me almost an hour to find a spot. Many of the hotels in the area had closed off parking to staying guests only. I can't blame them for wanting to force revenue into their coffers. The few available spots required cash payments, which I did not think to bring. Fortunately, I did eventually find parking, and off I went.

I picked up two JoJo's Bizarre Adventure wall art. So, I did splurge a little bit for my own pleasure. Please don't ask me how much I spent on them, though. Some vendors were a bit risque, but it was up to the parents to control where their children were wandering. There was definitely a wide array of goods and items on the floor.

I didn't check out the panels and autograph lines since I'm not a fan. So, I skipped them. That could change in the future. The cosplay contests could be interesting to spectate, but I have zero skills in crafting impressive costumes.

There were many people at FanX this year you could not walk without bumping into someone while traversing through the floor. I was there around noon on a Friday. I can't imagine how packed it would have been during the Saturday session. I did see a number of good cosplays, but I didn't feel good stopping the traffic and asking people's permission to take their photos. The convention has grown exponentially since its inception.

Despite the short time I was there, I enjoyed my browsing session. Next time, I will be better prepared to attend this event. Hopefully, I will be able to come with some friends as well.

I've never really been into comics, but the conventions always seemed a bit interesting to me. I don't think I would probably care about the autographs and stuff either, but I have always been a fan of visiting different booths. Even back when I was a kid at the county fair. I didn't care about the rides, I wanted to go to the vendor buildings to look at all the cool stuff and get the SWAG.

Ha, we are kindred spirits in regards to the booths.

I get to go to a conference in a couple of weeks and I am really looking forward to hitting the vendor area!

Booths are always fun, you can find some cool stuff. I haven't been to anything in downtown SLC in years because parking always sucks... Not that it's any better in LA! I was never into comics that much but son is, so I picked up some from taking him places when he was younger!

I'm glad you had to cool your head with something different all the time

These two pictures of JoJo's are very cool, do you have them displayed somewhere in your house? Attending this kind of conventions can be exhausting, in fact I understand why you didn't take the time to take pictures of the cosplayers, I think it would have been a hassle, but maybe next time.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, only specific parts of the house.

Parking really does make things harder.

Nowadays, people like to see such things and we see that the artist has put a lot of effort into creating this enemy art.

I left Hive for a while too. I'm trying to build my social media presence again and looking forward to some other adventures so I'm back.

I was once invited to a Comicon event in Southern Nigeria but it was around the time I got a job so I bounced that one and the next. I still promised the organizer (who is a friend) that I would try and show up but I don't know if time will permit me. I need to make time for events like this too.

I'll usually go to events like this and just be quiet cause, to be honest I like my space but taking up responsibilities there usually helps

Yeah, I hate time restraints. I would love to have more time to explore one of these years.

Así hayas pasado un mal momento en el estacionamiento, valió la pena el percance, ya que esos cuadros son geniales.
