Sticker swap and Wednesday Walk
Hello everyone, another Wednesday and a great opportunity for the #wednesdaywalk challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay. I invite you to walk with me today, through the streets of my city Belgrade. It's very cold but the sun is shining and calling you to go outside. 😊
My son and I had a reason to walk this time and I used the opportunity to take photos for my Wednesday walk. That reason was swapping stickers for the Fifa 365 album as well as for the Fifa World Cup album. 😊 I took some random city shots along the way.
The streets were not as crowded as they usually are. It seemed as if the city was sleeping.
We passed by the office building Beogradjanka (Belgrade Palace). This building used to be the tallest building in Belgrade, and at the time it was built in the 1970s, it was very attractive and popular. The view from it was an inspiration to many people who worked there.
Across the road from Belgrade Palace is the building of the Student cultural center - SKC.
This building has an interesting history. It was built in the 19th century as an Officer's House, which was the meeting place of the military establishment. Many military secrets were kept in this building, state and student rebellions were planned, concerts and balls were held. Today, urban youth gather there and rock concerts are held most often.
We continued our walk towards the town square called Terazije.
My son is a sticker collector and a big football fan. Since filling albums is a very expensive hobby, all those who want to swap their stickers gather at Terazije square, next to the famous Terazije fountain.
This fountain was built in the 19th century as a decorative object, and today it is a well-known meeting place.
It is located in front of the Hotel Moskva (Moscow).
The hotel is under the protection of the state as a cultural monument of great importance and a masterpiece of architecture.
We swapped a lot of stickers and my son couldn't wait to get home to fill the album. Even though the World Cup is long over, my son is still enthusiastic about collecting stickers. 😊
While we were swapping stickers, we got really cold and hungry. We continued our walk to Republic Square. It was much more crowded there.
We stopped at a small pizzeria on the square to eat pizza. The sparrows joined us so my son was happy to feed them. 😊
After that we headed towards the part of town called Dorcol.
It is the old part of the city where you can see a lot of old buildings and houses, that tend to be demolished due to the construction of modern residential complexes.
We came across the church of St. Alexander Nevsky, which was built in the 19th century.
And this is where our walk ended. We waited for the tram and went home to stick stickers. 😊
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena
I love cold but shining days like this one, blue skies in Belgrade that make the city more beautiful. Nice building I see some Austro-Hungarian influence and also other from Russia like Hotel Mockba😅, it seems a pleasant city where to walk and Orthodox churches have all amazing decorations 😍
And I love warm and shining days, like in Valencia 😊 Yes, there are Austro-Hungarian and Russian influences. And Turkish as well. 😊 It was a great day for photos.
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
the clear skies and sun make it look like a nice warm day but as I read looks can be deceiving
Love seeing the buildings and streets and remember my times visiting there
Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
It was very, very cold. 😊 While we were swapping stickers my fingers froze. 😊 Thanks, it is always a pleasure to join Wednesday walk.
A little task, the swapping of the cards, can turn into a lovely walk @jelenaa 👋🏻😊
Beautiful captures. Great architecture.
It’s nice to walk streets… with clear blue skies and sun.
Have a great day further! ☀️🌺
That's right, I'm grateful to my son for inviting me to go for a walk to swap cards because we had a great time. 😊 Thank you, enjoy the day too!🤗
It did show you had a great time 😊
You are welcome 👋🏻☀️ thanks a lot!
Haha, still gathering around Moskva? :D
I was wondering myself for a long time why are there often a bunch of kids (until my friend explained), was convinced it's an excursion. 😂
Hahaha yes, it seems like an excursion, especially in the summer when it is very crowded. 😊 Yes, both children and adults still gather there to swap stickers. They are there even when it snows😊 There is always someone with stickers in hand... 😊
I really admire the architecture there.... And your son is already a big boy 😊
Oh yes, he's growing and when we look at him we can see how fast time goes by.. 😊
The city looks very neat and clean, most importantly the city is also very beautiful which makes me want to visit it someday if I have the chance
