Come with me to the Cathedral of Basel

Today I invite you to the medieval Basel Cathedral, one of the most iconic landmarks in the city situated on a hill overlooking the Rhine river, which was already settled before the Roman times, the Romans had a fortress on this hill. The former bishop's church, was built between 1019 and 1500 in a romanesque and Gothic style and was consacrated in honor of the Virgin Mary and St. Gallus. Its twin tower dominate the skyline. as you can se it is constructed from red sandstone, wich gives a distinctive and vibrant color. You can climbing the tower ascending about 242 steps and from the top enjoy the beautiful views of Basel and region.

Beautiful old Basel. The Cathedral is very old and extraordinarily large! There must have been lots of people in that place.

I think the distinct red color gives it a lot of charm, definitely a marvel to look at from the outside. The interior is quite spacious :)
