WednesdayWalk: On Vacation at Puncak Geurutee
This is a trip that I did with my little family at the end of 2022, yes, in December to be precise. At that time, our kids were on school holidays, and to fill their vacation, we decided to take them on a trip to the city of Banda Aceh.
We departed on Saturday night by taking a public transport minibus from Lhokseumawe to Banda Aceh and arrived there in the morning. Sleeping soundly on the bus for about 6 hours was enough for us to gather our stamina, so we only stayed in our hotel room for a short time to put on our luggage and take a shower. It was only then, at 10 a.m., that we headed down the west coast route in a rental car.
We stopped for a while in the Lupueng area to buy some snacks and drinks at a roadside stall. There I saw a big turtle belonging to a food vendor. Instead of being cute, the turtle looks a little scary, but I know it's actually quite friendly. I want to feed it, but I don't know what to feed it. Incidentally, we brought rice and gave it some rice. Wow, apparently the turtle devoured it, and only a little was left in the snout of its mouth.
Then we left the place and continued our journey to Puncak Geurutee. But after only about 2 miles, we saw a beautiful view of the beach on the right side of the road and decided to stop there for a while.
My kids were quite excited and immediately jumped onto a small bridge that jutted into the sea.
The bridge is made of wood, and the condition is slightly tilted, so we have to be careful walking there. On either side of the wooden bridge are small huts for visitors.
But there were only us as visitors there, which is understandable considering we came there quite early and usually the place is only filled with visitors from noon until dusk.
There we could see small fish snaking among the coral reefs, and far to the north, we could see Pulo Aceh--an island located on the northwest side of Banda Aceh.
After my kids were satisfied enjoying the beautiful panorama there, we continued our journey to Puncak Geureutee. About 30 minutes from Leupueng, we finally arrived at our destination. Yes, Puncak Geureutee.
From the top of the Geureutee hills, you can see two small islands. I really want to plunge into the sea and swim to get there. But that's just enough to imagine; I'm not brave enough to do that.
Yes, that's the story of our journey that I can share with you here. I hope you will enjoy it. Cheers!

Yes, that is a common thing to find on beaches which are local tourist destinations in Indonesia.
