Food, Fun, and Friendship: A Christmas Celebration to Remember

The Christmas season is always an exciting one and a season I so much love and admire because of everything associated with it, from the appointment to relax and rejuvenate to having fun with family and friends, then eating good meals and the likes. It's just always a moment we all look up to during the course of the year, and even though this year I didn't plan on traveling, yet the celebrations have been going smoothly thus far with my friends and colleagues, whose presence hasn't made me feel the absence of my family this season.

Actually, when I first realized I wouldn't be travelling for this festive season, I was a bit worried that this year's festive season was going to be one of the most boring and less fun-filled ones we've had in recent years; in fact, I was already contemplating how I'd call or pay a visit to some nearby relatives to at least feel what it takes to be around my family during this season, but then some of my colleagues have made it a festive season to remember for not just me but each and every one of us, and here I'll be telling you all about it.

Some of my close pals at work turned the tides around even though I was already prepared for a boring Christmas, since when our end-of-the-year party was postponed, it was more or less the only thing close to a celebration I was looking up to before the year runs out. Well, after that, some of us meet up and decide to make ourselves happy and, as well, enjoying ourselves, have fun in celebration of the end of the year and the grace to be alive, hale, and healthy.

So we lay down to take ourselves to the beach, cook some meals and snacks, get some drinks, and play some fun games to relish the moment at the beach, and by Saturday we all embark on the journey down to the beach, which was just beautiful to be in, and the smell of the fresh body of water, plus the view of the ocean, palm trees, and the likes is just mind-blowing, which literally made me feel at peace.

It's been a while since I genuinely enjoyed myself, and I must say that visiting the beach this year ticked that box for me because it was nothing short of fun. Right from our way to the beach, it was exciting listening to jokes each person made and how we relished how the year went by and our shared experience as colleagues in the same work environment.

Arriving at the beach, we sort out the entry fee and pick a spot to put all of our stuff we brought along, such as food, drinks, and the likes, then have some chit-chat, while others quickly first go to catch a glimpse of the sea. I was among one of those who went, even though I've been to the beach before; it still always seems new each time I visit, and this time around it was just as expected.

Well, I later went back to the others, and we had some discussion and ate from the different meals available: fried rice, jollof rice, salad, plantain, and many more. It was just great and delicious. While eating, we also had music playing in the background, and after the meal, we rested a little and all went towards the beach to swim, play, and take pictures.

Even though I'm afraid of a large body of water, I, at least, managed to go close to it and take pictures, although I didn't even dare to get close to the point of swimming. We did have a wonderful time, and after dancing, we played more music and danced, after which we headed back home in the evening.

The experience was so enjoyable and breathtaking to the point where we all wished the day could be longer than it was. Well, seeing how exciting it was, we're all planning to make it a yearly thing, because such a wonderful experience ought to be enjoyed more than once in our lifetime, and I hope we'll all live to experience more of such.

For the remainder of the festive season, I'm hoping for the best and looking forward to more enjoyable experiences. I'll probably just visit my friends or visit a nearly relative and come back home to celebrate the remaining part of the season by myself, eating, chilling, and watching movies, so on that note, compliments of the season to everyone.
