If there's one thing I want to learn how to do so bad, it's how to play an instrument, any instrument at all and believe me when I say I've tried to learn, because I have. It's either the stupid thing just refused to be learnt or my head isn't just strong enough to understand any of it.

I remember my dad asking a guy who lives in the same street as us to teach me how to play the piano and the guy had agreed. What was crazy was that he had even rejected getting paid by my dad and had decided to teach me for free. This was something that other guys were charging thousands for and yet I messed it up even when it was being offered to me for absolutely no price at all.

We had done a few lessons together but then nothing was entering this head of mine so I stopped attending and he didn't bother to come look for me probably because he wasn't getting paid. I was the one getting the lessons for free, the least I could have done was be committed to learning the damn thing.

Anyways, years passed and I still couldn't play the piano, so I switched to drums. The drum seemed a bit easier for me because it just seemed like all you had to do was flow to the song and let your hands and leg do the rest. And it did work for me for a while but then I realized that there was more to drums than meet the eye. They had different names and patterns for different songs, this were things I had thought I could ignore and just continue with what works for me but then I started playing at my church and one Sunday I messed the whole thing up.

The choir, the pastor and even the members were all cringing to my horrible drum play and I didn't notice it at first and probably shouldn't have because the moment I did, I lost every morale and zeal to play the drums again because I was now scared and embarrassed, so I gave up on that too.

But yet, everytime I walk pass someone playing the piano or the drums, I always get this tiny regret deep down in my heart because I know how much I really wanted to learn those things but then I just can't. I know they say we can do anything we put our mind to but for some reasons, even my mind doesn't want to be placed on this.

I tried learning the guitar but once I was almost there, some other priorities that couldn't share time took me off. I hope one day I would.

Your experience that Sunday must be nothing dreamy at all. I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

Perhaps you haven't found your natural instrument yet? Or maybe you have PTSD from your past experiences that needs to be cleared off so your mind can become open?

But I believe you can achieve anything you strongly will and work towards and that your head would agree to learn soon enough.

I actually think it's PTSD and it might take a while before I get over it.

Even though all the guitars and drums have always been the instruments of fascination from a young age, there was something about the saxophone that really caught my attention as I got older; slowly climbing the list of the instruments I always wanted to learn how to play.

I did learn to play a "novice tune" with the guitar as I kept on strumming from a very young age; around fifth to seventh grade I became quite an accurate "replicator" of the tunes that I absolutely loved. Yet, it all ended right there, at beginner level.

Now, who doesn't love the guitar? Or the power that a set of drums can project when played vigorously? Almost anyone and everyone appreciates a good ole classic strum and a powerful beat on the drums.

But as I grew older I started to appreciate the saxophone and saxophonists a lot more.

Maybe it's because you can just feel the tune a bit more, where the instrument and instrumentalist act as one, same for the tune and the listener. As you're playing the sax or even when you're listening to it, the vibe it gives off is just pure, ecstatic; especially when an experienced instrumentalist is playing.

The truth is, if it was left to me, I would learn all the instruments in this world because why not? Music is beautiful, and having the power to be able to create beautiful sounds anytime I want, with any instrument I find will be a very powerful gift.

OH HELL YEAH, If we had the money and time, then many of us surely would've went that way.
