A Touch of Madness

I know that basically everything in this life has an advantage and a disadvantage, but it sucks sometimes that it has to be so, because honestly, there are certain things that just doesn't deserve having a bad side to it. And a good example of one of those things is being a good person or someone who just prefers to stay far away from trouble.

Unfortunately, living in a country like this, it's either you have a crazy side that you can easily turn on and off at will, or just watch people play with your feelings and emotions almost like its a kids toy.

Presently at my hostel, there's an issue going on. Apparently a new caretaker has been appointed and it's no other person that the greedy guy who was once our hostel president last year. For some reason the hostel management were satisfied with his services that they decided to promote him.

And of course, the moment I heard the news, I knew it was going to be nothing but disaster and I was right.

Sometime around noon today, I had come out of my room due to some noises I was hearing downstairs. Now this was very unusual, due to the fact that majority of the students aren't back yet, so I had quickly gone downstairs to investigate.

On getting there, it turned out that a lady who had traveled for the holidays had returned back to the hostel, only to find that all of her belongings had been moved to a storage room, and her room has been rented out to someone else.

Apparently, the new caretaker had made a new rule that gave anyone the rights to choose whatever room they wanted to live in for the year, as long as they had their money ready to make payments for that room. So what that meant basically was that he was renting out people's room because they haven't paid this year's rent, the year that hasn't even begun.

Now in my five years of living here, this is the first time I was hearing about anything like this, especially someone breaking and entering your room to move all of your belongings without your permission...he was basically committing a crime all in the name of being the new caretaker.

The entire situation was a surprise to me because he had mentioned it one time that he was going to do something like that but I thought it was a joke, turned out it wasn't. But then I noticed something, I noticed that the room he rented out belonged to one of the most peaceful occupants here in the hostel.

So my guess is that he evaluated the situation, knowing fully well how peaceful the lady was, hence knowing she wouldn't do a thing, and that had encouraged him to carry out that act. He clearly was preying on her peaceful nature and he had gotten away with it.

And I say that because I know some people here that he wouldn't try that nonsense with because it most likely would end with him getting in a bloodied fight with them.. This is why it is always advisable to have a touch of madness in your brain when staying in a country like this.

This is crazy but when we look at it from another angle and base on your statement in this post..

He made a rule and he has informed everyone of his intention so it should not come as a surprise, moreover we don't really know what he has discussed with the lady before that happen..

He didn't make the rule public until late last month.. Over here, that's not how things are done. You usually give at least two months notice ahead, to give people time to make up their mind on if they're leaving or staying.

I agree with the rule but it takes time to implement and transferring objects of others without permission or discussion is a crime in my eyes. I would go to extra lengths to teach that person for the action even if I may not hesitate to make a case file in the police station against it depending on my situation.

I actually don't agree with the rule because it's just pure wickedness.. Since he knew he wanted to implement that rule, what he could have done was tell everyone on time.. At least two moths ahead.
