WEEK 23 EDITION 2 || A DISEASE I'LL LIKE TO CURE ONCE AND FOR ALL
Hello and welcome to my page. I'm @daniky and here is my entry to the weekly featured content for week 23 edition 2. Kindly follow me as i proceed;
Coronary artery disease, stroke and lower respiratory tract infections are the most commonly known deadliest diseases in the world and among all these diseases, the primest is Coronary Artery Disease CAD (also known as Ischemic heart disease). So the choice of one disease I'll like to cure is CAD.
As we all know that the heart is one of the most delicate and muscular organ of our body containing blood vessels namely arteries, veins and capillaries which helps in the circulation of blood throughout our body and shuffles movement of blood between the muscular heart, the lung, the kidney, brain and other organs of the body via arterioles, venules and capillaries. Blood is essential to life and is fully active when oxygenated and transported throughout the body and this is the more reason we're active as human, but when blood begins to feel obstruction of it's passage into the heart, lungs or the body, it eventually lacks it signalling mechanism which may result into heart failure, stroke and death along the line if not treated timely.
Plague formation within the arteries results into a condition known as atherosclerosis which could lead to the formation of bad fats within our artery walls which hinders the free passage of blood thus giving rise to a high level of blood pressure. This is a very disturbing and alarming health condition which is commonly associated with obesity, sedentary lifestyle or lack of exercise in an individual. When you eat more than you exercise, you're likely to gain weight and become fat, then overweight and later if without proper caution, becomes obese. Bad cholesterols (LDL) and excess transfats build-up in the body are likely to cause such a plague formation in one's artery that could have a deleterious effect on one's health system.
So in a simple term, Coronary Artery Disease CAD occurs when the blood vessels that supplies blood to the heart becomes narrowed. If untreated may lead to death.
Prevalence of CAD
From epidemiological studies from health Knowledge CAD is said to be the leading cause of death worldwide as it is estimated that 3.8 million men and 3.4million women die each year from Coronary Artery Disease. This is really a call for an alarm. It is also recorded that in Europe 1.5million death of infected individuals are recorded each year and it was so added that an estimated value of 80%-90% of people dying due to CAD have one or more major risk factor that are influenced by lifestyle which include hypertension, smoking, diabetes milletus, physical disability, obesity, gender, ethnicity, age, raised serum lipid etc.
The above is a reason for my choice of disease to cure because this sort of disease could lead to other underlying health problems which may lead to stroke and lower respiratory tract infections. So there's a need to properly monitor our health at all times and ensure we take moderate balanced meal and exercise constantly.
Many people in the world today are overweighted and this condition has been misinterpreted as a sort of a balanced and confortable lifestyle in most regions of the world especially in africa. It's height time we restructure our mindset and wake up to the reality as our health is our wealth.
Possible ways out
- Consumption of a low calory food
- Take more of fresh fruits and vegetables
- Minimise the quantity of your salt consumption
- Exercise more than you eat
- Take more of whole grains
- Reduce your quantity of food intake
- Reduce acohol consumption
- Avoid smoking
- Avoid meals rich in saturated fat if you're obese
- Go for a comprehensive medical check up
Excess bad fat can also be treated by surgery. It's more safe to consult a certified medical doctor.
Hope you pick one lesson or the other from this. Those who wish to participate in this initiative can visit @kronias page for more detail. This is my entry to the weekly featured contents "week 23, edition 2."

You did a deep study of this particular disease and it concerns all and we need to consciously take good care of our health
Thanks for sharing
I love how you made your research on this topic and I learnt something too.
Yeah, it's just brief but my expectation is to ensure it's informative. Thanks for stopping by @princessbusayo
These are the kind of diseases that creep up on people and tackle them without their knowledge. You will be living your best life thinking all is well, whereas it's the opposite. The exact reason we should always go for regular checkups.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
That's just the fact. Going for check up is one of the best precautionary measures against CAD. Thank you for visiting @bruno-kema
Man @daniky you are in this for real. Right from when I saw CAD, I was like you really did deep research to come up with these contents. Truth be told, disease relating to the heart are very common nowadays. And the doctors at times are not helping things, they'd tend to say oh you should not have been eating or doing this or that .. But they never knew until now.
I hope your wish comes through!
Yes that's very common of most doctors, though their advices are also based on precautionary measures and are meant for our good as well. Thank you for visiting @temibot
Keep up the good research
Thank you @zestimony
What a brilliant article! And so true. It would be great to find a cure to the disease, but there already is- prevention is much better than cure.
A disease of the heart that I would like to find a cure for and one that is not so self inflicted as CAD and happens completely spontaneously is CAVS AKA Printzmentals Agina AKA Unstable Angina and unfortunately one that I have been dealing with since my first heart attack in 2010. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/21867-prinzmetal-angina
Essentially the walls of the arteries have spasms and when they spasm, they constrict the arteries, which block the flow of blood and cause heart attacks.
The triggers are really cold temperatures, stress, caffeine, smoking of which I do none and it doesn't happens when you exercise, but instead when you are at rest and usually at night.
My last 3 heart attacks in 2018 were triggered by the infection traveling around my bloodstream from an infected cyst and I got that cyst from drinking dairy milk.
And apart from medication to try to control it, there is no cure and I could drop dead at any moment. So can you imagine the anxiety I have- especially at night going to bed and living by myself.
I finally have an CT angiogram scheduled for the 28th of this month after waiting for a year as I have been suffering from really bad and constitent chest pain since the 10th of June and have had to triple my dosage of Vaso Dilator medication- which hasn't stopped the pain, just dulled it down, so this is one appt that I am not going to miss I can tell you!
Here is an image from my last angiogram in 2018- a day after my 2nd heart attack and 2 days before my 3rd and 4th and you can see on the top and bottom images on the left where they marked the narrowing with an arrow and on the right after they gave me some GTN and were seconds away from sticking stents up there thinking that it was plaque then realised that the narrowing had widened after giving me the GTN (which has some HORRIBLE side effects), so it would be great if they could find a real reason why this happens and solve it!
All help is greatly appreciated! 😃
