THE GOVERNMENT CONTROLLING THE RATE OF CHILDBIRTH KIND OF MAKES SENSE

The population of a country is the total number of people that inhabits a place at a point in time. Most times, there is always a limit to the amount of people that can occupy a place and if that is exceeded, it is called overpopulation. While so many countries face this problem, some also face the problem of underpopulation. That means that it is a problem either way. Because of this, the government of some countries work hard to keep population size at a normal rate.

In my country, the government do not really care about the number of kids a family decides to give birth to. They do not even have the data to track families and implement such a rule. This has affected us so much as a country and that concern has been raised a number of times. Funny enough, the poor actually give birth to more children here and I find it so unfair. Bringing innocent children to this world when you know you are incapable of taking care of them.

When I see kids on the street hawking, begging or doing these menial jobs, it literally breaks my heart. This leads to the increase in crime rate in a country. There is so many people competing for so little and the state of the country isn't even encouraging at all. A lot of people have been pushed to doing dangerous things due to lack and frustration. Overpopulation generally causes a lot of havoc to a country and if there is a way to control it, I think it should be embraced. Death rate can not be controlled, but birthrate can, so why not?

I am totally in support of the government controlling the population of a country but also, I believe it should be flexible. Each family should be able to give birth to the number of kids they want, depending on their income. Using myself as an example, I want to have about 3 to 5 kids and I wouldn't want the government to stop me from achieving that. However, I am also aware that my family has to be financially fit in order to take this kind of decision. I know this, but so many others do not, or maybe they do and just chose to do whatever they want. Either way, proper education can help more concerned people to understand the effects of having an excessive population rate in the country.

Regulating the number of children a family should have definitely makes things better; for the country and even for the homes. Imagine the current state of the country, things are double the prices they used to be. Any family with a large population is undoubtedly going through a really tough time now. For the country, it helps restore stability and allows efficient use of resources. It can also contribute positively to the economic growth of the country and help increasethe standard of living. And even on the long run, it will still favor the country so much.

Thanks for reading❤️

E b like to born pikin sef no be ur thing o, hehe
Well, I agree with you, it's actually cruel to bring forth kids to the world and make them suffer. The government can do better, but my dear, in the case of Nigeria, it will be very difficult to start with, but we can actually di it, if we have good heads up there

lol, that's not true naw, I mentioned that I want to have 3 to 5 kids.

Yes, our government is one of our major problems in this country, we do not even have the data to help put this issue under control.

Hi!
I think childbirth is a natural phenomenon and should be allowed to flow but only for the financially, emotionally and psychologically mature individuals.

Birth control had been adopted in places like China but it only worsened the already bad situation. Who government should rather do is to make provision for the population growth like free education, health care services, food security and what not.

Hmm, I get your point and that was why I mentioned that it should be flexible. In china, the policy was for families to only give birth to a child regardless of their financial capability.

The truth is that this country has so much growing to do and with the population growing so much daily, it might become more tedious to put the economy in a really stable place.

So I was about to say the country should do a better job handling the economy, in terms of preparing for the increase in population, but I just thought to look up the birth rate for Nigeria and compare it to the US. So much difference.

Nigeria - 5.64
Us - 1.66

In thinking birth control will be a reasonable way forward.

Great write up.

Think of a country with over population, think Nigeria, think of of a country without the track record of their citizens and families, think Nigeria...all these cause havoc to our economy. It's disheartening seeing little children do lots of job meant for adults when they are supposed to be in school. You will see parents with 8,9,10,12 children without a tangible source of income, but rather look for who to give out the children to or send them to beg or hawk

Really, I hope our government will read all these entries and take action by implementing child birth regulations

It is very disheartening, I do hope the government sees this as a problem and find a way to solve it. It will be a very hard and lengthy process though, this country do not have data. Honestly, I don't even think it is possible for them to implement such policy in 15 years from now. I really hope we get lucky to appoint competent leaders from now on, a whole lot needs to change.

Things change, what if after giving birth to 5 kids the husband loses his job? And things become hard?
I think everyone should be allowed to give birth to any amount of kids they want.

With or without the government controlling childbirth, people will still send their kids to hawk and beg.

Most of these people who give birth to many kids are mainly uneducated, they know little to nothing about family planning or even birth control. The best thing the government can do is to educate these people rather than imposing a law on them to have just 2 kids.

I get that there might be exceptions for real, there is no one rule that can ever work for all. However, I still think a family's income should be considered when it comes to deciding the number of kids they can have. It is a good thing for the family, for the child, and also for the country.

I do agree that some people actually needs to be educated about topics like this, I think I mentioned that somewhere in the post. I know of cases of when a family will not really plan for a child and it will come. Also, imagine a case when you are preparing for a child and two or three pops out. Lol.

The rule should be very flexible, if you can afford to give birth to this nnumber of children, go ahead then. Also, if the country is in a good state, it can help boost the income of the family in order to take care of themselves without any hardship.

That's why there's family planning and also birth control. Now it's up to the couple to decide the number of kids they want putting how much they earn in front. ( I just feel it should be a personal decision between the couples) Not some government rule.

Also, if the country is in a good state, it can help boost the income of the family to take care of themselves without any hardship.

Very well said, in our present economy, a civil servant earning 35k can't even take care of himself and talk more of kids.

I'm not saying families giving birth to 10 kids only to end up not taking care of them and allowing them to fend for themselves is okay, but what I believe is that if the country is in a good state, and people start earning enough to take care of their needs, things like this won't be the major issue

Do you know that most of these people give birth to so many kids in the hope that in the future they'll bring them out of poverty? ( If the first child doesn't help, maybe the second will, it goes on and on 😂😂). It's more like an investment 😂😂

I feel more for the kids because, at such a young age, they're entitled to so many responsibilities which isn't fair at all.

Government needs to come in and save the situation. Our challenge in Nigeria is that any issue that is given a religious colouration, it becomes a highly controversial one to discuss. Government needs to step up her game and safe the children roaming the street from suffering. Every parent should be held responsible for the care of his/her child. The lackadaisical approach by government gives room for bandits/terrorists to recruits the young population easily.

Exactly my point! The government should actually get more involved and control the situation as much as they can. Why should parents bring children to the world to suffer? It should really be frowned upon.
