Celebrating Engineers' Day with a cup of coffee macchiato

Today my brother invited me to celebrate Engineers' Day, with what we like so much: coffee. He chose a small, recently inaugurated coffee shop, nothing fancy, but quite nice for the attention. We just wanted to talk, as good brothers of gene and engineering, about the paths we took to achieve our university degree. The barista immediately recommended a type of coffee that, according to her, we were going to love. She mentioned the word “macchiato” and something about Italy. We didn't hesitate to order it; it was a pretty good two cups. But, there were a few hiccups: not with the coffee, but the way in which, this time, I added the sugar... apart from the good taste, we took home a couple of good laughs.

I always tend to visit coffee shops with attractive themes, but my brother is more straightforward when it comes to selecting a place to drink coffee. According to him, the taste differs from the environment, although I think the environment and the taste are like sweethearts walking in the park. The coffee shop we visited was very small, without much extravagance. Apparently, my brother frequents it because of the quality of the coffee beans they serve there. He gazed at me curiously when I started taking pictures of the vases on the table; he laughed a little, reminding me that it's impossible for him to see me doing anything if my smartphone camera isn't present.

“A good Coffee Blogger always portrays his experiences.” I replied, and we burst out laughing.

I mention the vases that were on the table because of what happened when they brought us the coffee macchiato. Near this vase, there were some mixers, or rather, ornaments that looked like mixers for the coffee. I immediately assumed that these were used to incorporate the sugar, but it didn't turn out the way I thought it would.

On the right, the flavorings that I mistook for sherbets.

The barista handed us the cups with the macchiato coffee and we immediately started adding the sugar. Without asking, I took one of the so-called mixers and wiggled it to incorporate the sugar. The barista noticed this and told me, laughing, that I had ruined my coffee, as the apparent sherbet was actually a flavoring agent. My brother, who incorporated the sugar into his macchiato with the spoon, joked about it, telling the barista that, since I am an engineer, I like extreme challenges, even in coffee. The silver lining was that they made me another cup, as the other one was ruined.

I laughed and apologized... although my mistake made the barista understand that it was better to remove the flavorings from the table, as they were easy to mistake for sherbet. And as for the taste of the coffee? It was delicious. I loved it because of that foam cut from the top layer that, when incorporated into the coffee, gives it a very smooth touch. Undoubtedly, choosing the macchiato was an excellent decision.

Have you ever tried coffee macchiato?

My brother and I shared quite a nice moment while drinking our macchiatos. Of course, we talked about how nice it was to drink coffee to celebrate engineer's day. Although he is younger than me, he sometimes surpasses me in intelligence and maturity, perhaps because he loves coffee as much as I do. This occasion, although it was a little bumpy because of me, I loved it. There is nothing better than a good conversation over coffee to celebrate achievements and experiences.

Hm. It seems to me both reasons (for aesthetic/theme and for taste) are valid for visiting a coffeehouse. Ideally, one that has both! :D sounds like you and your brother had a nice enough time. Happy Engineers Day!

Having coffee with family always warms the heart. It's very funny that you mistook the ornament for mixers😄. Isn't that some kind of air freshener, It looks like it.

Are you and your brother both engineers?

Yes, they are air fresheners... because of the shape, I thought they were sorbets hahaha. My brother and I are engineers. Thank you very much for commenting.

Congratulations on your day. I think I would have made the same mistake, sometimes I see things on the table and I just start testing without asking what it might be. Must be a good place that cafe you mention. Thanks for sharing dear @soldierofdreams . A big hug from Maracay.
