Caffeine of Truce
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the city, I found myself torn between curiosity and caution. Research chemicals had always intrigued me with their potential, yet their unpredictability left a lingering unease.
I've always had an issue with the numerous problems that were a product of the misuse of chemicals and the byproducts of chemical and other scientific researches. Sciences has been a mirage to me, promising to make a perfect world, but ends up making the earth worse by the day.
My phone buzzed, interrupting my contemplation. It was a text from Vera, my adventurous friend known for her enthusiasm in exploring the cutting edge. She was the complete opposite of what I stand for and my beliefs.
While I was averse to people, she was the life of every gathering. While I eschewed sciences and usually tilted towards the angle of religion, she was eclectic and always open to scientific experiments.
How we were such close friends was a mystery even to us. But we knew that we usually made a very good team. She was the Ying to my yang, the good to my evil and the opposite weight that created a perfect balance in our judgements.
"Hey there! You won't believe what I've got my hands on" it echoed her usual joyful manner *"It's the latest thing - snortable coffee! Wanna try it tonight?"
I stared at the message, conflicted. The idea of snorting coffee felt like a sci-fi twist on my daily caffeine fix, a sensory experience unlike any other. But I couldn't ignore the nagging voice of reason that whispered, "Unknown substances can have unintended consequences."
I have never been a fan of snorting anything. It's always felt like it's a pathway to addiction, no matter what the product is. But coffee was my favorite drink and anything that had any linkage to it had a soft spot in my mind even when it involved snorting.
Nonetheless, my curiosity got the better of me, and I agreed to meet Vera at her trendy downtown apartment. It was adorned with colorful artwork and an eclectic assortment of gadgets that reflected her appetite for the unconventional.
When I arrived, she greeted me with a mischievous grin and a tiny vial filled with fine, brown powder.
"This stuff is a game-changer," she said, her eyes dancing with excitement.
We sat down at her glass coffee table, and she meticulously explained the process. She showed me how to measure a small amount, carefully insufflate it, and then prepare for an unparalleled caffeine rush. It felt like we were participants in a clandestine experiment, blending the worlds of science and pleasure.
I stared at her with a mingle of fear and enthusiasm as the moment of truth arrived. I asked her to go first so I'll know that it's safe. She snorted the first two lines with relative ease and then stood back to watch for my turn.
I cautiously followed her instructions and took in the remaining two lines. The sensation was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. The coffee molecules rocketed through my nasal passages, delivering an almost immediate jolt of alertness. My senses sharpened, and a wave of euphoria washed over me.
For hours, we engaged in deep, intellectual conversations, exploring the potential and risks of research chemicals. We discussed the ethical implications of pushing the boundaries of human experience and the need for responsible experimentation.
All these while still taking occasional sips from a steaming cup of coffee, which we decided to share one cup. This was to 'moisturize' our throats even as we kept conversing and bantering.
As the night wore on, the initial rush gave way to a gentle descent, the open minded conversation with Vera made us agree on something for once, that research chemicals were a double-edged sword.
Their allure was undeniable, but their mysteries could lead to unforeseen consequences, so Vera and I vowed to stay vigilant in our pursuit of knowledge and enjoyment, always prioritizing safety.

It is good that these two friends prioritize safety ❤️
Good read
Thanks for sharing
When it's about chemicals unforeseen consequences are a very expected thing. Sometimes it may be seen within a short time and sometimes longer. So it's very necessary to know the risk of it fully before taking anything as a drink. I agree with you in that case for prioritizing the safety. I enjoyed reading you article.
!PIZZA
Very true. And sadly safety and unforseen future repercussions are things many of us young people usually ignore which always ends with dire consequences.
Thank you very much for the kind words and pizza

This is a nice tale with a moral resolution. It is good that you could bring Vera into your understandings on experimenting with chemicals! Although it seems as if it went well this time, who knows if that would always be the case. 🤷♀😁
Haha.. Perhaps by the following day after the caffeine rush has subsided, they'll go back to their banters and opposing stands

I certainly thought same. Sniffing anything just looks like a little addictive activity. Glad your character and Vera could have intelligent conversations over steaming coffee.🌺
Yeah, anything that has to go through my nose is a no-no..
I guess intelligent people usually have intelligent conversations especially when coffee is involved too.. Thank you for stopping by
