Hi, dear fellow coffee lovers!

image.png

I can't believe that I'm starting the coffee conversation in this round. It must be because I'm not traveling to work this weekend. More free time, more Hive time.

For many, coffee is fuel when it comes to having energy to work. For me, coffee is more like a companion. Right now it's after 10:30 at night, and I'm alternating between Hive and some writing on my computer. How I wish I didn't depend so much on its presence; if my coffee cup isn't next to me, my neurons get shy and this implies that I can drink many cups a day, especially after 5 pm. I don't know whether to break up with my neurons or with my nightly cups of coffee. I have tried switching to tea and sometimes it works, but I must say that my nightly caffeine habit has proven to be relapsing and resistant. I'm probably helpless.

Sometimes, like right now, I add some vegetable milk, to my coffee to make it gentler on my stomach. This time I added coconut milk I made this morning. I tell myself this is not real coffee to make myself feel less guilty, ha ha ha ha.

You've already opened the debate, the time has come for a pleasant conversation, let the gossip begin, hehehe.

As coffee drinkers we do risk becoming addicted to the flavor and caffeine of the dark lover. I think it would also change the dependence on coffee.

That coffee looks delicious and it's the first time I've heard of coconut milk being added to it. My curiosity makes me imagine what the flavor of coffee would be with that combination šŸ¤”

Thank you for leaving your comment, I leave you a cup of delicious coffee.ā˜•

Happy weekend!

Depending on good coffee puts us in a dangerous place. What happens when there is only bad coffee? Will we give in?--I've actually been there, and I had to switch to tea šŸ˜µ

Sometimes I put vegetable milk in my coffee; I like to make the milks myself and make lattes with cashew milk, almond milk, and coconut milk mostly. But really, my coffee is always or almost always black.

Very interesting is how to make the milk yourself, I don't really consume milk because of the lactose, but I have been told that plant-based milk does not have that discomfort effect. I am going to try!

Happy Saturday with a delicious coffee ā˜•

Lactose! That's the reason why I make my own milk. I could buy vegetable milk, but it's too expensive for me and not as delicious as homemade. The easiest to make is with cashews; you let them soak for two hours, rinse them, and then add water--I add a little salt, cinnamon, and vanilla--and process them in the blender. No bagasse left.

It is only since the 2000s that good coffee has been commonly available in the US; I remember one of my best friends in the 90s was the first to start drinking coffee when we were teenagers and the coffee was still mostly bad. I could tell how good or bad it was based on how much sugar and creamer she put in it. šŸ˜‚ One time she put in 4 packets of sugar and I was like, "Wow, if it's that bad, why are you drinking it??" LOL

I just hope my doctor never says I can't have coffee anymore! I know I should moderate my caffeine intake a bit now, so that the doctor doesn't forbid me coffee when I'm old and more in need of it than ever to drag my cane šŸ˜‚ I need coffee to keep my spirits!

It is true that its consumption should be moderated because as a drug it creates addiction, but those of us who like coffee find it hard to resist its flavor and its permanent stimulus. Happy week. Cheers and greetings.

Coffee is a great companion for Hiving hehe. I more than agree with that. But in my case, I don't think I need it as an energy boost except in the mornings and even then I think in the last few weeks that I've been drinking fewer cups a day, I'm improving in that aspect as well.

Coffee is not a dependency for me but a good companion, I think.

It's good that you see it that way because all excesses are bad. In the case of coffee, it becomes an addiction if we don't know how to control it. In my case I try not to drink so much, but there are days when I drink too much. Happy week. Cheers and greetings

WOW!
I have never read, let alone heard of, anyone making the combination of coffee with coconut milk.
I'm not saying it's bad, just that I was surprised. I have to try it and if I like it, maybe it will change my relationship with coffee.
If a pretty girl does something like this, the thing must not be bad.
Reading that you drink coffee in the evenings, reminded me of when I was in college. Also, when I had night shifts in a lab, I worked in. Those nights were black coffee in industrial quantities.
I was amazed at the coconut milk that I love.

You must try it! I was the most skeptical about adding vegetable milk to my coffee, but now I've completely changed my mind--always that it's a quality milk, homemade preferably.

I've never tried coconut milk in my coffee, but I've heard of it. At home, it's always black, and when I go out, I tend to go for a cappuccino or a latte.
You always look so fresh-faced. Is it the caffeine that brings out that great presence?

Hmm that's easy - I'd definitely love to change how drinking coffee at night disrupts my sleep. I hate the fact that I am restricted by the time of the day to drink coffee. There are times I am out for an evening walk with my wife and we walk past my favorite coffee shop - and the only thing that stops me from walking in is the time of the day. Decaf is an alternative, but I mean come one! What's coffee without that caffeine kick eh!

I however would like to keep the wake up "kick" of coffee in the morning too!

Asking for too much am I?

Well, sleepless nights or not...here's me drinking coffee after dinner last night!

I'd definitely love to change how drinking coffee at night disrupts my sleep.

I totally understand what you mean. Fortunately, I can go to sleep after having a cup of coffee, always I haven't drunk too many cups during the day. What makes me sleepless sometimes is not coffee but food. I can't sleep if I eat late--like today!

There's an interesting side to caffeine addiction. When you've reached a certain point of addiction, it's not the caffeine that hampers you sleep but the lack of it. There are no scientific research or statistically significant data available on this, but I myself was a caffeine addict (proudly so hehe), and I have experienced this firsthand!

Those days are long gone now, and I can keep my caffeine in check now :D

Same here, if I have to pull of a late night and get some work done I'll resort to a strong cup of coffee. I however will make sure I get a quick power nap beforehand.

I often have night shifts in the medicine emergency, so this is quite a recurring habit for me šŸ˜„

I don't have a problem with coffee and sleep but to be honest I try not to drink coffee at night. However, stopping by my favorite coffee shop at night is a great excuse for a night coffee, hehe. Maybe you could try drinking it lighter at night or adding milk.

Sometimes I think it is also a preconception that if we drink it in the evening, coffee makes it difficult for us to sleep ;) Caffeine can aggravate falling asleep if we are under stress or have a disorder that makes it difficult for us to sleep. But a cup of coffee if we are relaxed and having a good time, should not make a difference, I think.

0

0.000
avatar

I agree, I think it is very much a psychological factor that plays on my mind if I drink coffee late in the evening. I automatically go into the mindset that I Won't be able to fall asleep easily tonight, so what ends up happening is I don't even try to sleep, I don't even go to bed. I just stay up, watch some movies or write something.

Great insight there! šŸ‘

I can safely drink coffee whenever because caffeine does NOT give me energy!
I saw on a video presentation by a doctor that that can be a sign you have ADHD, and my father has ADHD, so maybe I do too. But either way - caffeine makes me sleepy. So sometimes when I cannot sleep at night, I drink coffee to help me sleep. :)

I wouldn't change anything about my relationship with coffee for now. Coffee is a good friend, in good times and in times of stress.

But some weeks ago I made some changes. I was drinking a lot of cups a day, I lost account of how much, hehe. But because of my husband's medical prescription, he has had to drink less, in fact, he shouldn't drink at all, but at least he is limiting himself to a maximum of two cups a day, and I am doing the same at home. And I feel good. The first days, especially in the middle of the morning, sometimes I felt tired and sleepy, but now I'm doing great.
I enjoy my cups of coffee. I drink them slowly enjoying the moment and from time to time I have a cup in the afternoon in a coffee shop if the occasion arises.

Here I am with Milo enjoying my coffee this morning in excellent company. šŸ˜ŗā˜•ļø

My relationship with coffee dates back to the time I was born.

My grandmother, who was a fanatic coffee addict, spared no effort to give coffee to the family that including me.

I was only a few days old when my grandmother Francisca introduced me to coffee.

With her delicate fingers of a proud grandmother, she spread on my lips the drink of the gods. From that moment on, I was marked.

Everyone who knows me knows that I am fascinated by coffee and that I have a project. To pack coffee in two-liter bottles and sell them. But everyone criticizes me for that.

So I would like to change the opinion of others. On my side, there is nothing to change.

All thanks to my grandmother.

I think you should keep your word and honor your grannie's legacy šŸ¤ā¤ļø

On the other hand, I support your proposal for the 2 litres of bottled coffee šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘šŸ¼ā˜•. It would be great to buy this bottle and thus not be buying every now and then in the same ride. I support you. I'm even running for *coffee president ā˜•.

I can't afford it

Coffee machines: recently the coffee machine in my kitchen broke. I don't know what happened to it, but it doesn't heat up the water enough and the result of making coffee is a mess all over the worktop.

I went to the shop to buy a new coffee machine. Prices for simple coffee makers range from $20 and up. The premium coffee makers cost between $190 and $278, while the exclusive espresso machines cost $750.

To be honest, I was disappointed that I could not afford these prices.

So I went to the section of coffee machines for the kitchen. The price was $18 and upwards and they are all 1 cup 6 oz . I couldn't find any machine I could afford šŸ˜”.

I would change this. A coffee lover would not have to worry about the price of a coffee machine. Nor about coffee. I think we should enjoy good coffee for a minimum cost.

I think they take advantage of the fact that there are many lovers of good coffee and that's why they put high costs on coffee makers regardless of their size or brand, there should be more accessible coffee makers, although I recommend that you go for the traditional coffee, with its cloth strainer.... just like in the old days!

That is what I did. I bought my cloth strainer for $0.5 and now the coffee is back at home.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Hopefully, you'll find a nice coffee maker that will make you happy without emptying your pockets.

I suffer so much because of that.

Our TV broke a couple of days ago, so we had to go buy a new one. While I was in the store, I saw this handsome Nespresso machine, and I thought, "Oh, I'd like to buy this for my sister's new office." Then I got closer and saw the price; I could hear my heart breaking.

Absolutely true. In my case I went out to buy coffee and the cheapest one was about a third of my 15-day salary. Some people would say not to buy it but I had to adjust other things because coffee serves several functions. But it was not supposed to be that expensive. Happy week. Thanks for the class for those new to Cuba. I learned a lot with you. Cheers and best regards.

If you could change one thing about your relationship with coffee, what would it be?

If I had to change anything about my coffee, it would be to make it less sweet, i.e. less sugar, but I don't like plain coffee! I can't resist the temptation of a good coffee with vanilla milk and if you add condensed milk it becomes a coffee bonbon... and if it has more foam it becomes a divine Machiatto, and if you add a spoonful of chocolate...

I'd better not go on, excuse me, I'm going to have my afternoon coffee, Cheers!

I invite @aguamiel, she takes her coffee with cinnamon...

Less or no sugar would be great! I quit sugar in my coffee twenty years ago; now I can't stand sugar in my coffee, not even in my cup of macchiato. BUT, when I'm in the mood for dessert, I can have a cup of fancy sweet and creamy coffee, even a bombĆ³n or an affogato; it's just I can't call it coffee anymore, though, he he.

Once you quit sugar in your coffee, you'll get to love its taste more! You'll see.

Greetings to those passionate about this rich beverage as is the CafƩ, to the friend @cinnccf.

When I read this conversational type initiative on the question asked, Let me tell you particularly, I go once to the nail šŸ˜, I, I would not change anything regarding my relationship with this exquisite drink, as I consider myself to be prudent when taking it, I do not exaggerate or go over the amount of portions to be taken, taking into account that coffee contains like other tea its benefits for the body. Everything in quantity has its risks, so I have nothing to change in our relationship since we get along very well, we are great inseparable friends šŸ˜. It was a pleasure to be able to share with you this brief chat. Blessings and thank you for your attention.

Before i going to sleep, I leave you my participation in the delicious coffee conversation. ā˜•

From my relationship with coffee I would change the way in which caffeine becomes addictive and when it reaches an exaggerated consumption it can cause health problems such as: insomnia, heart problems, headache, dizziness, dehydration, dependence, among others. This makes us to be careful in the consumption of large amounts of coffee.

As much as I want to consume large quantities of coffee, I must restrain myself, although as I mentioned at the beginning, when our friend caffeine does not want to leave us, that is where the problems come. I have always thought that coffee is good in moderate quantities, it becomes our friend, confidant, energy and encouragement to face the routine life.

Oh, caffeine, don't become my toxic lover! Jejej...

Greetings to all!
Happy sunday šŸŒž

At first I didn't like coffee, drinking coffee made my stomach feel nauseous and I wasn't used to it. Initially I learned to love coffee and worked in the coffee sector, learning more about coffee, especially in latte art. I work as a barista in a cafe. experience in the field of coffee changes the perspective between coffee and me. love coffee more because in coffee we can express what is in our hearts through a touch of concoction, art and artistry. Coffee is not just a taste but coffee is an art. This is my latte art work

The one thing I'd like to change is the cost of coffee. Coffee and creamers are like those toxic partners and relationships. where one partner likes to splurge all the money and deal some damage to your wallet. Then they leave, knowing that you want more, so you keep coming back for more; until you're absolutely high and addicted on coffee and your bank balance is missing a few thousand takas.

I just wish she(coffee) would love me for who I am, and not my money. Maybe she'll change for the better, one day... šŸ˜¬

Btw, I promise that's not an empty mug. šŸ˜‚ I always sip on some coffee during this time, usually after 8PM, so that I can successfully sabotage my sleep. šŸ˜Ž

I don't remember when I first drank coffee, maybe when I was 5-6 years old. When I was little, my father went to my grandmother's house almost every day and I often came along. Usually, the grandmother always provides 2 glasses of coffee with milk in a cupboard.
I don't know the milk used but the coffee is black coffee because there is still powder sitting at the bottom.
My father was always given a cup of coffee with milk when he arrived there, and when I tried it I really liked it, Maybe for me, it was the sweet taste of milk that I liked better at that time.
After several years passed I had a bad experience when drinking coffee, at that time I was 11-12 years old and was taking a school promotion exam, I was not a diligent child and the exam material had 3 subjects.
I studied from noon to 9 p.m., and there was still a lot of material that I had to study, so I decided to drink a large amount of black coffee to stay fresh studying at night. I also didn't use a glass at that time but instead used a saucepan made from metal, I remember pouring more than 3 tablespoons of black coffee.
Long story short, finally the one pot of coffee was finished, actually, at that time I didn't like the taste because it was too bitter. When it was 2 pm I decided to sleep because the exam was at 6 o'clock.
It turned out that the influence of the coffee was very strong, my heart started to pound, and I couldn't sleep even though I closed my eyes, I don't remember what time I finally managed to sleep, maybe 4 in the morning and wake up at 5 in the morning. On that day I felt very dizzy, my eyes were burning and watering because I was sleepy, and it was difficult to concentrate. I just want to finish the exam quickly and go home to sleep. Since then I no longer drink coffee, another reason because my grandmother started to get sick, so I no longer have coffee with milk in the cupboard. A few years later, many instant coffee products began to appear, both ready-made and in powder form, and I started to try and like coffee again.
As I got older and my health knowledge increased, I finally realized that the sugar contained in instant coffee was not good for my health. And decided to drink black coffee more often. But sometimes I still drink instant coffee if I need it quickly, and also if there is a new product like in the below picture.
gabung.jpg
This product is a local instant coffee product and just came out last week in a supermarket, I bought it because I want to try the taste. As usual, I didn't like it because it was too sweet, and finally, I shared the rest with relatives and friends (1 pack contains 9 sachet coffee instant). It seems my relationship with coffee is one of love and hate.
Finally, I found true love in Black Coffee šŸ˜ but sometimes I still glance at Instant Coffee šŸ˜†.

This is how I usually take my coffee (I don't usually have whipped cream though, but sometimes). I don't like coffee plain, but I make a blender drink with it that is kind of like a homemade frappuccino. šŸ˜ It's quite tasty.

If I could change one thing, I suppose I would like for coffee to give me energy. Caffeine makes me sleepy if anything, not awake. So as I said in another comment, sometimes if I can't sleep, I drink a coffee and it knocks me out.

I actually didn't start drinking coffee at all until my late 30s, and I didn't know that caffeine made me sleepy before then, too. Prior to that my only caffeine consumption was soda or chocolate, so it was never a lot so I hadn't made the connection. But then I worked the night shift at the hospital, and I tried drinking energy drinks to stay awake and I was nodding off at the desk! That's when I finally figured out that caffeine has the opposite effect on me. I started drinking coffee as a way to make a protein shake (that's what I make in the blender).

I average one or two coffee drinks per day, so no, before you ask - it isn't because I've become so addicted I need the caffeine to sleep, lol.

That's what I call candy-coffee. I'm drooling... That's perhaps my favorite dessert in the whole world so far. But if I have one of those, I must go for a cup of steaming black coffee immediately, otherwise my brain won't believe me that I did have coffee, hehe.

I confess that my relationship with coffee has been amorously balanced. I confess that I am a victim of its bitter taste and strong aroma. It combines several aspects that make me love it and sometimes hate it, and it seems to me that it is this love-hate relationship that I would try to change. Let me explain:
Coffee is my morning lover and my first impulse, he makes every morning pleasant and pleasant just with the pleasure of tasting, but when it runs out and I have to buy it in the market I hate it because every time its price rises more and more in the market and buying it means a sacrifice that I always make for one of my favorite loves. But, who said that love is easy?

We all have a relationship with coffee; be it null, basic or special. And the fact that it is a special relationship consists of several levels, within which I find myself in an addictive relationship.
Coffee is. He allows himself to enjoy and taste it but I take it to other areas converting it into an addictive relationship. Actually, if my day goes by without a drop of its essence, a headache is certain. I can't live without it. That's why I wish my relationship wasn't so dependent.
