The Last Search on Google!!!

"Google is your friend." This was the statement I got from my younger sister some years ago when she was tired of my constant questions. I was always asking numerous questions that I was ignorant of the usefulness of the "almost dying" android phone that was with me. This phone gave me a hard time that moment that whenever I think of smashing it to the ground out of frustration, I would remember that there was no way to get another one as it took years begging my aunt to dash me a phone.

Some questions were always answered by my sister and when she was tired, she said "Busayo, Google is your friend. Go and ask online first." From that day onward, I was too scared to ask any question without enquiring from Google first. All thanks to technology where every question is answered including the silly ones. Google has loads of answers to whatever you asked for and many times, it makes me wonder how information was ever ready at any time.

Whenever I am confused, either with a description of a place I need to go, relationship tips and advice, definitions of some unknown terms and some silly questions like, "When can I eat my food? How do I hide so that no one would find me easily? When can I get married?" etc, I ask online first and when I see that I am not getting what I need, it's time to ask someone else to give me their knowledge about it. Most times, I would ask in my language (Yoruba) just to understand clearly what I couldn't get in the English language.

The last question I asked from Google, making use of the search button was about ideas on some hotels around the location I am going to.

I have been taking some steps to get a job so that I don't stay at home after my service ends next month. The owner of a private school I contacted two months ago told me to remind her in September when school resumes so she doesn't forget. I did that two days ago and she said she would get back to me. I was at the MTN office yesterday to resolve an issue when I got a message from her that my interview would come up on Thursday which is tomorrow at Ibadan. That was unexpected. I never thought it would happen so quick.

Fortunately, I hadn't gone to the market to get some perishable foods like vegetables, pepper etc to make for the week. Immediately I saw the message, I cancelled my plan because it would hurt me to know the information after buying those items because it would spoil as there is no one to dash them out to and besides, not when I am trying to manage the money on me would I want to do a sacrificial giving 😅

I started researching where to stay overnight at Ibadan so I could be at the school very early the next day. I called one of my aunt's friends staying in Ibadan but she had an issue with her apartment. I ransacked my brain to see if I would find someone to stay with but there was no one. I decided to find a hotel and lodge for the night. That was when I started asking Google for the nearest hotels around the area and their prices. The ones I kept seeing were above #20,000... just for the night 😬

This happened last night as I was confused about getting a hotel as I don't know the location very well. I asked the woman who recommended the school to me, but she had no idea of any hotel. She suggested I reach out to the school to help me find a hotel but I was thinking that wouldn't work especially for someone coming for an interview. They would assume I should sort myself out on that.

Earlier this morning before leaving home for my trip, I called my aunt just to say hi and also chipped in my trip and the purpose to her. She was willing to help and that was when she started contacting people she knew. I didn't want to tell her not to bother since I have resorted to lodging in a hotel but I thought about it again so she wouldn't think I am rich 😄 She made calls and in the end, I got someone to pass the night with and it's cool by me. At least I would be saving my hotel money for something else.
