The memory of breaking the shackle

Time is the most precious thing; if we lose it once, we lose it forever, and we cannot recover it. That's why we should try our best to use our time to ensure success in life. If not, time passes in its way, and we can't restrict it even if we want to do so. Like that, this year is almost about to end.

One year means 365 days, and it's not a little time, and each day many incidents happen with us. And each day is unique from one perspective. Some days were good, and some days were not good for us. That's quite natural, and among them, we can remember only the significant incidents.

If I had to save digital memories from a year, then it would be difficult for me, as there are significant memories in a year. But when it's about 2024, I can decide within a single second, and there are 2 reasons for it. The first one is this year there were not so many significant incidents as I was busy with exams and research papers for a long period. The second reason is there is one incident that is very significant to me. So, I want to say the incident is the digital memory of the year.

I am talking about 5th August. If you are from my country, then you already understand the incident I am mentioning. It's the incident of the running away of my country's X president. This day was like a second victory, and the feelings of that day were very special to me. I felt it once in my life because it was the feeling of freedom, more specifically the freedom of speech. The X president dominated everyone for 15 years, and during that time we didn't dare to speak whatever we wanted, especially when it was against the government. In a democratic country, I felt pity for not having the right to freedom of speech. I have no political background, and I am not interested in politics, but as a general person, I should have the right to speak even if it's against the government when the government is not doing well. Unfortunately, I didn't say a word even if it was my responsibility to raise my voice if the government was not doing well. I didn't do it because I knew the consequences of it. Many people lost their lives for having such kind of act in the last 15 years, and I didn't want to be the next victim. I am sure most of the people of my country thought the same because everyone is an important member of the family.

The last time the X government crossed all the limits and took so many innocent students lives just because they protested for a legal and fair system. It was too cruel and totally unexpected, and that made the protest more active and aggressive, and on the 5th of August, the X president was forced to run away to save her life, leaving the position of president. It was indeed dramatic, and I never thought such a kind of thing would happen soon. I am a witness to such a memory. If your voice was dominated for a long time and suddenly you became free from the domination, how good you would feel! It's a magic moment for me, and perhaps it's the same for most of the people of my country's people unless they were blind supporters of the president. It's like a caged bird becomes free and can fly in the sky freely. So, I want to save the magic moment as the digital memory of the year.

That is one unforgettable event in the history of your country. I can understand why you chose not to say anything since your government people act harshly to those who do.

Hmm. Sometimes I feel it was a bad dream but it was not. Whatever, At the end we became the winner even if it cost the life of many students.

I think I read about this somewhere on X, and when I did some further digging into it, I was just as glad to find out what the incident meant for you guys, especially with regards to employment opportunities not being equitable.

As for not being able to speak up, I think you did the right thing keeping quiet for the sake of your life and your family. Sometimes, this is what being brave means - being rational and knowing when to act and when to lie in wait for an opportunity.

I notice you mentioned you were actively involved in research. What type of research do you do, if you don't mind?

Hmm. At that time the incident was highlighted and you might read it.
Speaking without knowing the consequences is not good but we were pushed to a dead end and we raised our voice at the end and became successful but it cost many lives.
I am a student of fisheries and I already graduated. I was involved in fish-related research which was a criterion to be graduated from my department.
