FungiFriday : Lac Simon, Québec

During my weekend at the Centre Touristique du Lac Simon in Quebec, I took advantage of the few hiking trails in the park. It's great to recharge your batteries in nature while discovering the fascinating world of mushrooms. There are so many different shapes and colors that it's always a pleasure to take part in the #FungiFriday organized by @ewkaw.

Lors de mon weekend au Centre Touristique du Lac Simon au Québec, j'ai profité des quelques sentiers de randonnée présents dans le parc. Cela fait du bien de se ressourcer dans la nature tout en découvrant le monde fascinant des champignons. Il y a tant de formes et de couleurs différentes que c'est toujours un plaisir de participer au #FungiFriday organisé par @ewkaw.

Now that I know about #FungiFriday, I pay more attention to mushrooms when I go for a walk in the forest. Not knowing much about this area, I just take pictures of them. We start with this group of mushrooms, like boletus, just off the trail. With the recent rain, it's easy to find them, like these mushrooms with their beautifully colored caps.

Maintenant que je connais l'existence du #FungiFriday, je fais plus attention aux champignons lorsque je me balade en forêt. Ne connaissant pas trop ce domaine, je me contente de les prendre en photos. On commence avec ce groupe de champignons, comme des bolets, juste à l'entrée du sentier. Avec la pluie récente, il est facile de les trouver comme ces champignons avec un chapeau d'une très belle couleur.

Chanterelles

Here's the same group of Chanterellesas in my first photo. These mushrooms are edible, but I didn't pick them because there weren't enough of them. But my knowledge is rather limited, so I prefer to look at them and not get sick 😀.

Voilà le même groupe de Chanterelles (une sorte de chanterelles) que sur ma première photos. Ces champignons sont comestibles mais je ne les ai pas ramassés, pas assez nombreux. Mais surtout mes connaissances étant plutôt limitées, je préfère les regarder et ainsi ne pas tomber malade 😀

This is a clavaire, which looks like coral but in the undergrowth. Reading about this mushroom, I learn that it can be eaten. This would not have occurred to me with this shape.

Là il s'agit d'un clavaire, cela ressemble à du corail mais dans les sous-bois. En lisant sur ce champignon, j'apprends qu'il peut se manger. Cela ne me serait pas venu à l'idée avec cette forme.

Amanita Bisporigera

These are fine specimens of Amanita Bisporigera, nicknamed the Angel of Death. With this nickname alone, it's easy to see why they should be left alone. Because the toxins they contain affect the kidneys, and death can occur seven days after eating them. Nice... (source plants.ces.ncsu.edu).

Il s'agit de beaux spécimens d'Amanita Bisporigera surnommé l'Ange de la Mort. Juste avec ce surnom, on comprend rapidement qu'il faut mieux les laisser tranquille. Car les toxines qu'ils contiennent affectent les reins et la mort peut arriver sept jours après l'avoir mangé. Sympa... (source plants.ces.ncsu.edu en anglais)

And we end on a happier note with this decaying tree trunk that's been transformed into a mushroom building. I hope you enjoyed this stroll with me through the world of mushrooms. **Have a nice weekend!
