Wednesday Walk and Mona Lisa Lego

Imagine!

I've pieced together a pivotal artwork from history and have experienced the satisfaction of recreating every fine detail and then proudly displayed my creation.

I'm talking about the LEGO Art collection: Mona Lisa

With 1,503 pieces, it’s not just about assembling a picture, but relishing the nuance of every color and detail as it was over five centuries ago.

LegoMonalisa2.JPG

The LEGO Art Mona Lisa set is a thrilling build!

It’s a fresh take on da Vinci’s timeless piece and enduring beauty... it inspires creativity.

Aside from being a masterclass in creativity, this set stands as a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci’s artistry... it reflects the intricate details and colors of the original painting.

There are new shades in the LEGO palette, specifically designed to replicate the hues used by da Vinci before the painting aged. It brings life to Mona Lisa's enigmatic smile with remarkable accuracy.

LegoMonalisa3.JPG

It has this innovative drum-lacquered gold frame, which adds to its sophistication. And it is a detachable frame, just adding to the flexibility in how I choose to display this artwork. I think it gives it some versatility.

Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa is unquestionably famous worldwide, yet our familiarity with the painting can often overshadow the fact that it is a groundbreaking piece of art. It embodies the culmination of Leonardo da Vinci’s extensive explorations in science and nature. The painting is teeming with rich narratives and meticulous details.

This LEGO Art Mona Lisa set was a gift from a sorority sister. Did I mention that when I'm building bricks, I don't have time to take photos?

Some of the LEGOs I've built are that are Christmas-theme are these!

Those are awesome LEGOs! I didn't know the Mona Lisa came in LEGO form! That is such a nice train Santa, and village. I've never come across any of these, that is so cool! You have a great collection!

It was a pretty solid collection. I don’t have them anymore. I help my girlfriend’s son with some of the harder ones. Like the Roman Colosseum and Notre Dam ones.

Thanks for the kind words, @tattoodjay! 😊 The Christmas sets really do add a festive touch, don’t they?

If you’re thinking of diving back into LEGO, the New York skyline set is a great choice! It’s must be a fun and detailed build, although I am just looking at the box.

image.png

As for the camera lens, it sounds like you’ve got some exciting decisions ahead. Maybe you can treat yourself to both!

And thank you for having me on the Wednesday Walk! It's always a pleasure to share and connect with others.

Sounds like you've got some awesome sets lined up! The skylines and modular buildings are always impressive.

Cool that you switched back to a Samsung phone—I heard about the possible new smart ring too. Might just steal the spotlight from LEGOs and lenses!

Keep me posted on what you decide to go with., @tattoodjay! 😊

I know, right, @davedickeyyall !? 😄 It’s so cool to see how both LEGO and digital art can capture the same iconic image in such different ways. Makes you appreciate the creativity that goes into both! 😊

Legos are usually very addictive, I find it very fun to start putting them together, when you don't know where one of the pieces goes is when everything gets complicated, but the best thing about putting all those pieces together is the final result.

For a moment I imagined myself putting together the Mona Lisa's painting, I don't want to imagine if one of the pieces of the finger

avatar

Oh, I totally get that! The whole process of assembling Legos is such a satisfying journey, from the moment you start putting the pieces together to finally seeing your creation take shape. That feeling of accomplishment when you complete the final piece is just unmatched. And yes, I can only imagine the panic if one of those tiny pieces, like a part of her iconic smile or a finger, went missing. 😅 But hey, that's part of the adventure, right?
Are you working on any Lego projects right now, @lanzjoseg?

I've always been impressed by the creativity some people gave to build stuff with Legos. Give me a plan and I am good, but ask me to make something unique and it comes out looking like a Picasso painting.

Right there with you, @bozz! The way some folks can turn a pile of plastic bricks into a miniature work of art is incredible. Giveb me a plan and I too am a master builder, but without one, I don't think I can do it. 😂
But hey, Picasso's got his own genius, right? Sometimes a bit of abstract flair isn't a bad thing! What are your go-to Lego themes?

Most of my blocks from when I was a kid were the space or castle sets. I did have a few of the technics sets as well. Oh, I also had quite a few city sets. I still have the Space Shuttle kicking around somewhere.

It’s mind-blowing, right, sis? They've turned art, whimsy, and architectural wonders into buildable sets. LEGO creators really know how to keep things exciting.

I wish I had the time to build something as intricate and detailed as Notre Dame. It would be a time-consuming... but rewarding project, for sure. It’s a blend of history, architecture, and pure creativity.

This is a new style to me. I'm used to always stepping on these plastic lego pieces strewn all over my floor in my early parent days. It's been a long time since I last ventured to the local official LEGO retail outlet. It was more like a Lego playground parents drop off their kids and grandma off to do their shopping and come back for them. Classic art seems like a new approach. Who knows who's child can be the next Rembrandt, Picasso or Worhol?

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

Oh, I can totally relate, sis! Those tiny bricks can be sneaky little hazards, but it's great to see how LEGO has expanded over the years. From a playground for kids to an art studio for adults, there's something for everyone now. Imagine if your floors were strewn with pieces of a future masterpiece— who knows, maybe you'll be the next big name in the LEGO art world! 😉 Have you thought about revisiting that LEGO store and seeing what's new?
Much !LUV always sis🤗🌺❤️

All the Lego I've been seeing are bags of used Lego pieces at Thrift shops, so far having none with collectable pieces. I check out the used toys section hoping for a little luck.
I hold up the bags to inspect the contents saying, "I hope these have been in the dishwasher because we know kids tend to put these things in their mouths and tend to be found scattered all over floors."

Creativity certainly knows no bounds. A work of art is a work of art, and this 1,503 piece work is a great feat for which Leonardo da Vinci himself would be very proud of you.
Your figures are bursting with life, I hope you will be encouraged to share more LEGOs.

Thanks a ton! 😄 Creativity truly is limitless, and I'm stoked you see the artistry in these tiny bricks. Putting together this 1,503 piece set was a blast, and I bet even da Vinci would get a laugh out of it! Your support means the world and definitely makes me want to share more of my LEGO creations. Stay tuned for more brick-building shenanigans! 🚀
