Hail to the Hive!

So far I haven’t had to use the return to home (RTH) feature to fully return home to home base yet. It has engaged itself before but I disengaged it and preferred to bring it back manually.

As long as you have it in visual range or know from the screen where you are at it’s no problem at all.

I used to panic a little especially when the low battery alarm was beeping at me. Argggh Panic stations it’s going to fall out of the sky arrrghhh.

But I now tend to err on the side of caution and bring it back before that horrible beeping as I have 3 batteries and can easily re launch it again after landing.

So I watch the distance readings if I’m a little disoriented and when Imsee them reducing I know I am heading the right way. After a few flights in the same place you start to get the lay of the land and can navigate fairly easily back to base. I kinda like it when I spot myself in a strange location such as up on this roof in Jamaica.

Getting closer and closer to that familiar shaven head shining like a beacon in the sunshine, guiding the aircraft in.

I am my own shiny visual landing beacon bringing my bird safely back home.
