It is true that the beauty of urban photography lies in capturing the essence of everyday life as if the photographer were lurking like a predator for the right moment, while the unsuspecting prey remains unaware of their existence.
And it’s equally true when they become aware.
Reactions vary because it depends on each individual. Some people get upset and ask me to delete the photo, and well, I have no choice but to comply.
Others smile, some cover their faces, some look puzzled, or with curiosity.
Breaking the monotony for a brief moment with this frontal and assertive photograph is a way to document the street dynamics.
Urban photography truly captures those fleeting moments that reveal the pulse of a city. The interplay between observer and observed creates a fascinating narrative.
It’s possible that those individuals at least have an anecdote to tell, and they might also wonder where they can see the photo.
If I didn’t take that picture, it would remain just a fragment of their daily life, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
