Lights, Shadows and Silhouettes - Street Photography - Monomad Challenge.

Buildings.

I have always been very demanding with the things I do, my passions and hobbies, I don't try to be better than others, I try to beat myself, progress, the competition is with Dimas. Usually after taking many shots I only choose a few, identify the aspects or techniques that I need to improve and try again. Yesterday was a very different day, I took few photos and chose almost all of them :)

I have been thinking about new and different ideas for composing images that I will develop in my free time. Lately I've been feeling a lot of interest in what is considered minimalist in photography, I'm going for it.

Let's start with the first photo of that building. Darken some areas in lightroom editing to achieve that contrast.

This is the difference of taking photos at different times, if I had been there at noon I would not have that division of lights and shadows on the building. As it gets later, the sun goes down and figures, shapes and lines are drawn on the concrete.

This building is divided by light and shadow, maybe the photo could be crooked but I wanted that vertical line, which divides one side from the other.

An old building in the Palermo neighborhood with beautiful French balconies (I think).

I really liked this photo, two buildings, one more modern than the other, different balconies and styles, different eras. I had the idea of centering them in the middle of some branches and I was satisfied with that contrast.

Silhouettes.

This is the series that I liked the most of the entire article, it is one of the results that I have been looking for and thinking about. I had never passed through that area or maybe I did, at a different time when I didn't have that light, otherwise I would have taken photos before. I was there for several minutes waiting for some people to pass by.

I love the shadows reflected on the walls and I think I may be on the path of what I consider minimalist, although the fewer elements... more interesting.

Something a little simpler, without people. The shadow of the traffic light on the wall in the middle of the two lamp posts. The light was too strong there, so I had to lower the lighting levels in the edit.

You can achieve a lot in just one corner, right? This is another photo from another angle.

People.

In this last series of three photos I move away from my most recent goal, which is to try to take minimalist shots. I return to the usual and to very busy areas. Some scenarios are still interesting according to my vision. In a corner of Palermo Soho, a line is drawn on the ground and a division of lights and shadows is generated. I took this photo at 200mm. If I had had more time available, waiting a few minutes was ideal, I could have achieved something very good there, with another lens and getting closer.

These walks are very good because without planning I do a field study and I know in which places and at what time I have this light with which I can play.

To finish two different shots, the first one is simpler, shadows in the background and light on that guy walking. I think lately I'm finding it more interesting to capture people's feet or legs.

The second and last was in the Recoleta neighborhood on a pedestrian bridge, that cyclist was crossing his bike to the other side and in the background an avalanche of people.

If you had to choose only one favorite... What would it be?

That's all folks. Thanks for stopping by and appreciating.

You are a true disciple of Fan-Ho, with good handling of the composition with shadows in the different scenes.
