My Simple Christmas Eve Celebration

It's New Year's Eve few hours from now from where I live but that won't stop me from posting my Christmas activities!

Hi! Yes, it's me and I'm back after my quite-so-busy holiday. Finally, I have some time now to go back Hivin'!

Lucky are those who celebrate the holidays with their families. A room filled with laughter and chattering while they feast around the table filled with foods.

That's the typical scenario when we think of a Christmas celebration. But there are also some who celebrate it alone. 🙋‍♀️

This is my third time celebrating it alone. I got used to it even though Christmas and New Year is also the time I get sad the most. And seeing family pictures during this holiday season makes it worst. I still live with two family members but our home setup is complicated that I have to celebrate holidays on my own.

I bought my cake on the 23rd because they might sell out fast the next day. I was supposed to get the Mango Bene but when I saw the base of the cakes were already watery so I got the Sea Salt Caramel Vanilla instead. I love the light texture and meringue taste. This cake brand still haven't disappointed me. All the cakes I've tried from this brand is good.

I also had a mishap on the way to buy the cake which I will be sharing on a separate post.

The next day, I went back to the mall before lunch to purchase my Christmas Eve meal, Crispy Kare-Kare. I miss this food a lot. I also bought a 1 liter hand soap beforehand and I was worried how I would carry my purchases because our town has imposed a ban on using plastic bags. Now stores use paper bags in replacement for plastic bags. It's difficult to carry some paper bags because they don't have handles.

I left my purchases in the baggage area and went inside the grocery to buy some things. And oh holy molly, the line on the cashier area was jam-packed! Some were already ushered to line up and pay at the bakery across the cashier area. While on the line, the security guard assisting the lines instructed two people lining in front me to go the cashier at the baby/infant section and pay their groceries there. He then also instructed me to follow.

I got out of the grocery faster and claimed my baggage at the baggage area then placed everything inside the huge eco bag I bought at the counter while paying for my groceries. Now it's easier to carry but damn it is so heavy. It was a struggle to carry it in and out of the jeepney.

So here are my foods for Christmas Eve: crispy kare-kare, cake, and ensaymada. I made the fried rice because fried rice is expensive on restaurants. I can make it anyway, so why not?

For my drink, I blended milk, yogurt, ice crea, matcha powder together. It tastes great! I forgot to freeze some water so my drink got no ice but it was still good.

I forgot to put up my little Christmas tree and only remembered it on the morning of the 25th. Sorry! I also usually call my sister during Christmas Eve but I wasn't in the mood for several days already so I didn't call her this time. I also slept early and ate my foods some hours before the Christmas Eve due to exhaustion.

Being alone on this festive holiday won't stop me from celebrating but, of course, celebrating it with your favorite people makes it more festive with a beautiful memory to keep.
