It was a Depressing Month
Hello everyone. I’m back after a month of leave. How are you all doing? Well, it was a rough September to me, but I’m grateful for that rough experience for the first time as a first time mom. When you’re in a toughest point in your life, you really seek for help spiritually because it’s your only hope. It calmed my worries. Thanks God the giving me the “angels” who helped me solving my problem. We may imagine that the angels are those who have wings that we can’t see, but there are also angels around us. I’m talking about the human beings who help the needy people in trouble without asking a return.
Last September, my baby (Poinsettia) was admitted to the hospital because she had a hard cough and fever. The doctor diagnosed it as a transmitted Pneumonia. Beforehand, it was my nephew and niece who were also admitted. Their doctor diagnosed them with dengue and pneumonia. The doctor monitored their platelets. I thought that Pneumonia isn’t contagious, but I’m so wrong. I was blameworthy as a mom because I felt like I couldn’t protect my child from that transmitted Pneumonia.
Let this post be a message to all of the parents of toddlers, infants and newborn to stay away their child from someone with Pneumonia. According to the doctor, they have the weaker immune system than the adults, so it’s better to distance them from the other kids who we suspected the carrier of the virus.
When my baby had the first symptom, she had an instant hard cough. She vomited and developed a high fever at 37 degrees which was not normal. Her body temperature was not lowered down even if she took 5ml of Biogesic every after 6 hours. Her cough didn’t go away even if I gave her the 2.5 ml of Ambroxol Expel every 12 hours. Don’t worry, these syrups were prescribed by her pedia the last time we visited. She advised those syrups if she would develop coughing caused by allergic reaction as she has an allergy. I thought it was just a simple allergy, ‘till I finally brought her to the hospital.
I was nervous when my baby had a high fever and she chilled a lot. She would ask help if the body temperature became higher even if she was asleep. When we were put into the sweet room and she finally had an IV attached, I was calmed and happy that she’d finally be okay. It was not an easy feeling to see her hurt and crying when the nurses wrapped her a blanket so she couldn’t move while they attach the IV, but it was a worth struggle because it treated her well. Later, the nurse gave me the nebulizer with salbutamol. She was nebulized four times a day.
Anyway, that’s up to now. My baby had 5 days of stay at the hospital. We had 69,000 pesos ($1,385) hospital bill, but thanks God that my baby’s father used his health insurance like Philhealth to have the bill covered. It lowered down into 39,000 pesos ($690). The hospital recommended another government departments for cash assistance such as DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), PISDA from the City Hall, from our Congressman Joboy Aquino who gives 10,000 pesos ($200) in each bill and from PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office).
Bye for now!
Good good ok na si baby.
We also had the same problem when my daughter was having bad cough that lasts for 2 weeks even though that we take medicine for her and we feel that we can't bear the pain from our daughter while coughing.
We rushed her to the hospital because we think that's the only way for her to cure for her cough and the findings is also acute pneumonia. We stayed there for a week and thankfully, we didn't pay any single penny because my wife is a member of philhealth.
Imissyou pointy
Thanks God that the baby is now okay. I see your smile with her.
