Total War Medieval 2 - Scotland Campaign - War for the Scottish Isles

Previously, I wrote about my desire for a Scotland campaign in Total War Medieval 2 and the set up I put in place. This time, things got spicy. After claiming Inverness and York, we gazed upon Dublin and Caernervon.

Today, I have a fantastic update for you. Dublin and Wales decided to join us in the Scottish Isles. Dublin is little more than a hamlet at this point, but now that it's ours it can be a safe town away from the front lines.

At this point, I began inspecting my troops and moving things around preparing for our conquest of Wales and ultimately, England. My diplomat was on the European continent, making friends when I discovered that Milan had also been busy and was making inroads into the mainland against France and the Holy Roman Empire. Something to keep an eye on, I want France to be a healthy ally against England, they can't be split on two sides.

Once Caernervon was taken, I made a big step in the plans with Inverness. It was time to dismantle the castle and turn it into a town. The reason for this is financial mostly: castles don't bring in a lot of money and I didn't need a troop factory up top while I have Wales. Foreshadowing: this may have been a mistake.

It is at this point that disaster strikes during my preparation: England launch a preemptive invasion! Those colonising citizens of Båstad, Sweden.

It's fine. This is fine. I am not in full panic mode, despite the fact that six spies have died and my army is at half health after taken Caernarvon. The situation is a bit of a problem because I don't have a lot of soldiers. This is not good. I leave you with the situation as follows, some loose ragtag soldier groups here and there, my commanders coming down from the north as my brave soldiers hunker down and prepare for the English onslaught.
