Sonic The Hedgehog | Sega Master System version | Full game (Part 2)
About the game
Sonic the Hedgehog is a 1991 side-scrolling platform game. It is a companion to the 16-bit Sega Genesis game Sonic the Hedgehog for the 8-bit Game Gear and Master System consoles. |
---|
The premise and story of the 8-bit Sonic are identical to that of the 16-bit game: as the anthropomorphic hedgehog Sonic, the player races through levels to rescue the imprisoned animals Doctor Robotnik plots to turn into robots. Gameplay is similar, Sonic collects rings while avoiding obstacles, but is paced extremely slower as the 8-bit version focuses more on exploration.

Ah!
Some moments from the past popped up after watching this
What a great sonic game my friend, I'm a big fan of these games with the blue hedgehog and his friends, I really liked this gameplay. Although the saga of these video games is very old, I still like it.
It is interesting just how long Sega supported the Master System, I wonder if this was because they were selling the Master System Converter for at least the first two years of the Genesis being on the market (if in charge, I would have kept that available just to poke at Nintendo's lack of backwards compatibility, and made that a marketing gimmick too).
Some might think it was wasted money and effort but to me, as a gamer at heart, I love seeing new games for older hardware. Not everyone has the money to buy the latest console and even if it is watered down a bit, it is nice to see newer characters find a new home on older hardware.
Thanks for the memories.
