Homeopathy is a system of unconventional medicine which developed in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann. It operates on two major principles:

• Law of Similars (Like Cures Like): This principle implies that a substance that causes symptoms in healthy people can be used to alleviate similar symptoms in sick individuals. For instance, something causing fever to a healthy person may be used to address fever in an unwell person.

• Law of Minimum Dose: Homeopathic treatments use substances that are highly diluted. Most times, the process of dilution is repeated several times with the assumption being that the more dilute a substance becomes, the stronger it gets. Usually this is done via “succussion,” which means shaking up and down.

Natural ingredients, plants, minerals and animals are used to make homeopathic remedies. They are diluted in water or alcohol and then given as pills, pellets or liquid.

Individualized Treatment: Homeopathy is highly individualized in its treatment approach. In prescribing remedies, practitioners take into consideration the patient's physical, emotional and mental state.

Holistic Approach: Homeopathy’s goals go beyond just treating symptoms of a disease; it treats the patient as a whole person. It aims at stimulating rather than suppressing.
