How many people are really making money online

With the rise of employment in many counties including my own, I see a lot of the Youth trying their best to make it online.

I don't blame them. Besides if you can't make it offline you can try online right? But how many people are really succeeding with this.

There's a lot of hype about how there's so much money to be made but is it all true that all you have to do is get online and find an online work and you'll be rich? The sad reality is no.

I'm not saying that making money online is not possible, but truth be told, it’s not always easy. There are real opportunities, but they take time and effort and a lot of hardwork. Infact I would argue that it takes more hardwork online than it does offline for certain job niches.

I know this from experience. A few years ago, I tried freelancing on this popular site called Upwork. If you've been on that site before you'll understand what I'm trying to say.

Before I signed up, I thought I’d make money quickly, but it took months to get my first client who asked that I did a logo for his company. It was the first job so I took it seriously, almost as if it was world cup for me.

I had to keep learning and improving my skills to get better-paying jobs. And even with that, the opportunities were still not coming.

I have noticed that there's more chance to earn from Web 3 platforms than most Web 2 platforms and the obvious reason is that the Web 2 money making sites are either saturated with way too many users that you can get an opportunity or it's a scam site.

Platforms like Fiverr or Shopify seem like simple ways to earn, but they require a lot of work and even a bit of luck to get customers or clients. Whether you’re freelancing, selling products, or creating content, you have to stick with it and know that it's not as simple as they make it look.

Success online doesn’t happen overnight. Many people give up too soon I think especially on the content creator platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

They don’t realize that, just like any job or business, it takes patience and time to grow something strong. You need to build trust with your clients or audience before you can see the success you thought you'd be seeing in just a couple of months.

In the end, if you’re serious and willing to put in the time, you can definitely make money online, not just any money but big time money.

But it’s never going to be a quick fix or a shortcut to wealth. You need to be ready to do a lot for a long time.

You are on point. It is painfully hard to grab the first client on Upwork. Also, unless something goes viral, it is quite hard to start monetization on YouTube.

I've tried and quit YouTube so many times it's no joke. The big channels have all the attention now

I have a YouTube channel, not serious about it though, just using it as an archive for my hobbies.
