The 3d addict/ Onboarding ploy / DUO HSBI raffle great odds! / Reblog Lottery

20240824_214621.jpg

About 2 weeks ago I shared a post about my 3d printing addictions and my new printer link to that post here

This new printer came with a filament management system and can do 4 materials at once, in that post I mentioned it can do up to 8 with another filament management system.

Well as you can see above I got a second unit for the 8 color and what do you know I can't use it out the box they have a fine print on their website saying the 8 color hub will be released at a later time 😑.

The hub is what connects the filament tubes to the print head right below is the hub that came with the printer and as you can see it only has 4 slots.

So what is the scoop I have to wait until they release it ?
Come on now this is 3d printing baby we find a way and make our own parts, luckily some folks already designed some hubs so that saves me lots of time designing and testing.

I actually already printed out this community made color hub but I will save that for another post and the reason will be explained in the section below.

Onboarding ploy

Backstory

I am a big fan of hive and would love to see this platform grow not only for personal gains but also because of the positive social impact hive can bring to the world.

I am part of the Hive Onboarding Committee and we want to help bring new people to hive as well as retain the new users that just joined.

This is not an easy feat, and unfortunately I don't think hive is quite simple enough for the masses but I know we can get there, but in the mean time the best people to try to focus the onboarding effort on are early adopters and tinkerers we should have more success that way.

My onboarding method

(1)

I brought up this method before and I think it is a great way to spread the word about hive I have done it before but I will be doing it again.

The concept is simple find some interesting work or project and write about it on your blog, then after the 7 days pay out get in touch with the person who made the original (preferably on a public channel to maximize the potential eyes/impact)and share the author rewards from your hive post with them.

The plan

As I mentioned targeting early adopters and tinkerers is likely to yield more success with onboarding and so I am going after the 3d printing community!

Like I touched on in the 3d addict section I already printed a community made hub so that I can do 8 color printing, Someone else made this design I will be sharing a post about that hub and then post it in the 3d printing fb group the user that made it is in, I will share the post there and say I earn from blogging and as a thank you for making the part I am sharing the profits from that post with them, I think this can have a lot of potential and maybe we can onboard some more users!

This post will come out this Wednesday, I really would appreciate if you guys can leave some nice upvotes on that post to make the payout nicer, but lets not get too crazy this will be coming out of my fiat wallet as I will likely send out a paypal to the hubs maker.

@bitcoinman's bits of wisdom

  • Invest only what you can afford to lose and be mindful of the potential risks.
  • Unless you can accept delivery stay away from futures and stick to physical.
  • Leverage is a great tool for losing money fast.
  • Numismatics for the lows stick to smart stacking baby.
  • Be cautious of new schemes in crypto, like ICOs, DeFi, and NFTs, do your research before investing.

Your onboarding method does actually sound great, but it'll be for folks who actually do earn a lot on their posts...
They'd need some new heavy upvotes...

Gats get writing on my Duo post one of these days😞

3d printers are cool. I would love to have one (I have seen the diy 3d printer projects using a regular printer, they look awesome). My thing though is learning how electronics work by taking apart broken items and tinkering with them. I would love to get to the point where I can plug an icon or microcontroller, read the information on them then reprogram them for other projects.

I generally like the plan. Some post specific feedback though, it took me a couple reads to get that you meant NON-hive things and sending your payout to them as donation with a hive shoutout and a why I sent this to get your attention type note or conversation or chat or paypal memo or whatever on it.

It wasn't immediately clear and I was first going to respond with well, ya know, beneficiaries make that... then I got it. It's a neat idea. I wonder if a post can generate enough attention and income to make it noticeable to an outsider, and likewise find enough people interested inside hive to support the post in general depending on the post's topic/recipient and their interest level in it/them.

But lets say why not? its an interesting promotional approach to try. The only other concern being, hey outsider, I, a well known person with reach like BitCoinMan made a post on this thing and people used this thing to give me money and Im giving that money to you! Here's $2.73 USD! Now for you to get $2.73, you would have to go through some technical hoops, come here, build a presence and produce things and then people might give you crypto you can turn into some USD or a bunch of other things like having voting power, ok now let me explain that, and ....

so in summary. I genuinely dig the idea. I also genuinely wonder about its efficacy, but its certainly not harmful and would be harmless to try!
