2024 Australian Silver Emu Coin

I had this coin on my Christmas list, but to be honest, I've had it all along, just hadn't mentioned it until now, lol. Since I collect these coins, it wouldn't hurt to have a couple more around!

What I appreciate about these bullion coins is that they have a semi-numismatic quality to them.

Semi-numismatic coins are a fascinating blend of bullion and collectible coins. They carry intrinsic value due to their precious metal content, like gold or silver, and they also have additional value attributed to their rarity, historical significance, or unique design. This combination often makes them more desirable to both investors and collectors compared to regular bullion coins which are valued solely by their metal content.

IMG_2700.JPG

Purchasing a semi-numismatic coin comes with a modest premium over the metal's spot price while it's still in production. Although the cost isn't significantly higher, it tends to be slightly more expensive than a pure bullion coin.

Once the production ceases and the mint's inventory is fully sold out, the premium over the spot price begins to rise. This increase continues as dealers' stocks diminish further.

When it comes to stacking silver, there isn't a "wrong" way to go about it. As the adage states, "If you like it, buy it."

The real question is, "Which is a better investment?"—numismatic silver, semi-numismatic silver, or pure bullion coins?

One technique for profiting from silver stacking is by leveraging the volatility of the spot price of silver. However, it's crucial to ensure you don't overpay too much for the opportunity, in my view.

One way to make money from stacking silver is by taking advantage of how much its price can change. Here's the deal: the price of silver doesn't stay still—it goes up and down a lot due to things like the economy, politics, and how much people need it for various industries. To profit from this, you can buy silver when the price is low and sell it when the price goes up. This way, you earn money from the difference in prices.

For example, during uncertain times or when inflation is on the rise, silver usually becomes more popular as a safe investment. If you stay updated on market trends and understand how these factors affect silver prices, you can make smarter decisions on when to buy or sell.

Just be careful not to overpay in the first place. Even if you sell at a higher price later, paying too much at the start can eat into your profits. Different types of silver, like numismatic, semi-numismatic, and pure bullion coins, come with different price tags. Pure bullion coins usually have lower premiums compared to the other types, which might have extra collectible value.

Doing your homework, comparing prices, and knowing the market can help you avoid spending too much. Also, sticking to a budget can prevent you from making impulsive buys that might not pay off in the long run.

So, to sum it up, taking advantage of silver's price changes can be profitable if you play it smart and don't overpay at the start.

Nice coin Saver. But i stopped doing endless coin series. It just gets too crazy.

I totally get that, @silverd510! Coin collecting can become quite intense, especially with all the different series out there. It's great that you found your limit— sometimes, less is more, right?
I DCA bullion coins every month, so it just falls into place (without me even trying). But the advantage is that when I sell, it will be a set!

Thanks for the music, @fat-elvis !
The song is a humorous and playful tribute to the emu, and describes the emu's quirky characteristics and behaviors in a light-hearted and entertaining way.
CHEERS!

The Emu coin looks so realistic. I mean the Emu itself.

Absolutely, @irisworld ! Those intricate details really make a coin stand out, don't they? It’s like holding a tiny piece of art in your hand.

It's truly special, @irisworld! Holding a coin like that brings a mix of awe, appreciation, and excitement. It's like holding a piece of history in your hand. 😊 Have you ever had a similar experience with a unique item?

I have similar feelings about books or some historical places. That's why I love traveling to old places which were found ages ago🥰
But actually, I have had several coins from the 18th century, and when I hold them in my hands, I started thinking about how many hold it before me and what kind of people they were...

That sounds absolutely fascinating! I can see why traveling to historical places and holding those 18th-century coins would be so intriguing. Imagine the stories those coins could tell if they could speak. It's amazing to think about all the different hands they passed through and the lives they touched. Traveling to old places and handling artifacts like that can truly be a deep and enriching experience. 🥰 Do you have any favorite historical destinations or any other interesting artifacts?

It is difficult to tell now. But when I remember when I traveled to Cambodia and the guide was telling us about the history of one of the temples and some events that happened there, and I was... wow.... At that moment, my dream was to touch the walls and learn at least half of what they had seen :)

A lovely addition to your Emu collection sis! I've always gone for the 'art' of the piece; if I liked it, I'd buy it, if it was reasonable.

I know my Cousin likes his coins with birds, he thinks of Emus as Australian sized turkeys. There are two Canadian online retailer I know sells this series, hardly competitive prices but Emus are not the only bullion bird around.

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

He has good taste, you cousin. Emus do have that 'giant turkey' vibe, don't they? 😂 Canadian retailers might not have the best prices, but at least they offer a variety of bird-themed coins. I bet he's got lots of birds in his collection, !LOL

I understand that countries put the animals that live there on coins. My next article will be about the Australian giraffe coin. That strikes me as a rather odd idea.

That does sound intriguing, @trautenberk ! Australia is known for its unique wildlife, so featuring an animal like the emu or kangaroo seems like a natural choice. A giraffe is definitely unexpected! (More of Africa.) I'd love to read your article and find out more about this unusual coin. 🦒 Hugs and kisses to you too!
