Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? Hope all of you are doing good. I am back again to do another battle sharing with the community on some special and memorable matches that I encounter as I play Splinterlands throughout the week. Last week I shared a match that highlighted my usual range attackers on death splinter with Arachne Weaver, today I tried to use them again with another new soul bound reward card the Meriput Slinger.

If we recalled last week, we had Lira, Raa and Ravenhood Warden whom were so amazing. This week, I added another card to lineup and tested the efficacy of the card. This card actually carry a new ability that came with the soul bound reward card set for Rebellion. So before we go into the battle, lets look at Meriput Slinger and also this interesting ability that it carry.

A very strong attacker that is equally fast just a little squishier without armour and a little lower health.

This card carries the new ability Impede. And Impede will reduce the speed of cards hit by this card. Effectively, this is a snail making card. If we combine Impede with Slow that is gained at level 4, it will make cards almost ineffective in terms of hitting with the absolutely slow speed. Not forgetting that there is also Reflection Shiled and Redemption as the card levels up. How will this card fare in the match I showcasing today?

Let's dive right in to the match proper.

Selection Analysis
Having Close Range is an invitation to start showcasing your range attackers. The cards that you fear will take up the front position when cards in front of it is no longer bounded by the range card penalty at first position.

In terms of my selection, instead of picking something that is huge, I just opted something lighter in Carrion Shade, though I expect it to fall quickly, it buys time for the backline to hammer in. And it is because I was using Carrion Shade as tank, I had to back it up using Venari Bonesmith whom is able to leech life and act as a secondary tank. Next is the first of the 4 range attacker on showcase, Ravenhood Warden whom is able to give the lineup additional armour with the protect ability. And next will be Meriput Slinger which will hit hard and also reduce speed of the hit card. Next up will the fast hitting opportunist, Lira the Dark. This card is really awesome as it is most certain she will start the round and will hit the most vulnerable card. Last in the lineup is the big hitter Raa that has double shot and also scatter which adds a little bit of unpredictability.

On my opponent's side, it is a much levelled up lineup than mine but in terms of card selection, they are a little similar to what is commonly used that fit most ruleset. Typical Cursed Windeku as tank with the thorns followed by a Riftwing that has scavenge that eats the scraps and gain health. Following will be Silent Sha-vi on the sneak with 3 other range cards for added damage output which is made up of Dhampir Stalker, Soul Strangler and also Lira. Similar concepts but I gave more attention to the range cards that my opponent.

Death vs death but with rather different lineup, let's see how things unfold in the match.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Fast and furious as the match startup with many casualties seen this round. An exposed Soul Strangler was taken out with ease by Lira while a combination attack from 3 of my range cards settled Cursed Windeku. Opponent manage to clear out Carrion Shade with efforts from Lira and Dhampir Stalker.

Round 2 - Lira again showed how deadly she is by taking out Silent Sha-vi right at the start while Meriput Slinger impede's Riftwing which is good as we do not want to get into trouble with backfire by Riftwing.

image.png

Round 3 - The two Liras were on fire. Opponent one took out my Ravenhood Warden while mine took out Dhampir Stalker. A miss on Meriput Slinger allowed it to get backfire effect. But Raa just bulldoze through a take out Riftwing with a double strike.

Round 4, The round ended fast with Meriput Slinger landing the kill and bring home the victory after hits from Venari Bonesmith and Lira. Glad to win this. Victory secured!

Battle Summary
The 3 cards that I used last week were awesome, with Meriput Slinger, it gave me more options on what I can use on a broader scale of matches based on the ruleset. But all in all, range cards are fun to use and play. Look at how they are hitting opponent's hard and giving all kind of abilities to make range cards so viable in the game.

Wrap Up
Hope you enjoyed my sharing today on the range cards that I felt was amazing for death splinter. Meriput Slinger also had a good run, seeing how the impede works and how it makes it easier for the team to strike the high speed cards on opponent side.
