Why Every Splinterlands Player Should Post On Hive!
Splinterlands is a vibrant and mighty part of the Hive ecosystem.
On the outside looking in, many people may not see the symbiotic relationship between Splinterlands and Hive. If you have been around for any amount of time, you can see how developing your Hive blog presence can exponentially impact your Splinterlands game play.
Why Should Splinterlands Players Post on Hive?
I understand that many Splinterlands players may not feel capable of or even want to post on Hive. I know a lot of incredible Hive content creators who are not into gaming.
But Splinterlands players are missing a huge opportunity (IMHO), when they do not create posts and other content.
From a player's perspective, the biggest advantage of posting on Hive is earning rewards that can be reinvested into a Splinterlands account. More earnings equates to better cards, which leads to higher rewards within Splinterlands!
This cyclical process of investing liquid rewards from Hive can fast-track your Splinterlands growth!
How Should Splinterlands Players Start Posting?
The following is not an extensive explanation of all the possibilities. It is simply a suggestion on where to start.
Splinterlands offers two weekly challenges, and they reward quality posts with an upvote (and sometimes a big one).
Check out both of the following to see which type of post works best for you!
Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!
The Social Media Challenge is all about sharing our love of Splinterlands on other platforms.
Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge!
The Weekly Battle Challenge encourages players to share recent Splinterlands battles. Every week a new monster is highlighted.
TIPS:
- I highly recommend that you follow @Splinterlands so that you can learn about new updates and weekly challenges.
- Be sure to follow the guidelines explained in weekly challenges so that can you qualify for upvotes.
How To Convert Hive Earnings to DEC?
DEC is one of the most versatile tokens within the Splinterlands universe. It can be earned or purchased. It can be used to both purchase or rent Splinterlands cards.
STEP #1
- Create qualify content! Easier said than done, but worth the time and effort if you can strengthen your deck.
STEP #2
- Be sure to use the right hashtags.
- Get the attention of the Splinterlands curators:
#splinterlands / #spt - Cross post on Splinterlands.io:
#spt - Tags that can be used for all types of content:
#archon / #neoxian / #palnet - Any time you add a tag to your post, make sure you understand if a tag is specific to a certain topic or open to all types of content.
STEP #3
- Wait 7 days to receive your earnings from your post. Patience is a virtue.
- Not all of your earnings are liquid. Part of your earnings are automatically staked. Staked rewards increase your influence which allows you to give higher upvotes to the people you support.
STEP #4
- To start the transfer process, you need to log into https//hive-engine.com.
- Click the "Deposit" button.
- Select the token you wish to deposit. In this example, I selected HBD (Hive Backed Dollars).
- The following screen will appear:
STEP #5
- You will need the information from the above screenshot to initiate a transfer.
- Open your preferred Hive interface. I use https://peakd.com.
- Open your wallet and click the "Send" button. In Peakd, the "Send" button will appear for both Hive and HBD.
- The following screen will appear. Enter the TO and the MEMO information. Click "Continue."
- Within moments, you should be able to see the transaction in Peakd.
STEP #6
- Go back to https//hive-engine.com.
- Refresh the screen until you see the transfer of Hive or HDB. In Hive-Engine, the transfer token will appear as SWAP.HIVE or SWAP.HBD.
- There are couple of ways to convert Hive or HBD into DEC (the token you will use to purchase cards and rent card). In this example, I am using the "SWAP" option as it will be the easiest way for new Splinterlands users.
- When you click the "SWAP" button, the following screen will appear. Select the FROM token and TO token (In this example, we are swapping from HBD Pegged (SWAP.HBD) to DEC).
- Click "SWAP" to confirm the transfer.
- You can confirm that the swap was successful in Hive-Engine and the DSwap website.
STEP #7
- Go to the Splinterlands website.
- Click the DEC icon at the top of the screen.
- The following popup will appear.
- To transfer your DEC from Hive-Engine into Splinterlands, ...
- enter the amount of DEC you want to transfer
- select Hive Engine Wallet from the "Select Wallet" dropdown
- click the "Transfer In" button.
- You will be asked to confirm the transfer. Click "OK" if you agree.
Step #8
- Congratulations! Now you can use DEC to purchase and/or rent Splinterlands cards.
- I will share more about this process in another post.
Final Thoughts
