Summoner - Pyre Versus Tarsa

I choose Pyre as my summoner mostly because I did not want to choose Tarsa. I did not plan to use many melee monsters, so I felt I would get more benefit across the board with Pyre's +1 Speed increase.

Position #1

Living Lava was a good choice for tank due to strong melee attach (3) and strong defense (shield ability at level 1). The main downside of Living Lava (low speed) was negated by Pyre's buff for my monsters.

Position #2

I decided to go heavy on ranged monsters. Molten Ash Golem is a great choice at number 2 for both its strong health (9) and close range ability (which allows this beast to fire ranged attack from the first position).

Position #3

Fire Elemental's blast was one of the keys to victory. My opponent's Undead Badger (placed in 2nd position) was never able to hit any of my monsters. With a +2 for range attack, Fire Elemental delivered a much needed one-two punch.

Position #4

Small but mighty sums up Spark Pixies. +2 range attack combined with 6 speed was a deadly combo. My opponent was hit hard and fast.

Position #5

Scavo Firebolt reminds me of several ranged attack monsters that cost 3 to 4 manna. Scavo Firebolt was chosen to protect the final position because I feared a sneak attack (and I was right).

With 4 life, Scavo was able to survive two rounds (and deliver two important blows) before being killed by my opponent's Silent Sha-vi.

Did My Strategy Work?

The strategy I built around Scavo Firebolt worked well. But with any Splinterlands match, victory could have been elusive if the circumstances were different.

Key Moments

• Scavo Firebolt has a strong attack and decent life for a 4 manna monster. He served will in defending the end of the line.
• Fire Elemental quickly killed off my opponent's Undead Badger. If this had not been the case, my Scavo Firebolt probably would not have lasted 2 rounds. That would have been a game changer.
• Pyre's speed boast proved to be of great value.

I like Scavo Firebolt as a low league ranged monster. As I have stated previously, Firebolt provides great value with decent life and strong attack at level 1. Scavo Firebolt becomes even more interesting at Level 6 with Knock Out abilities.

Since my deck is in the early stages, it will be awhile before I can enjoy the Knock out ability.
