Why Are You Still Playing Splinterlands?

I continue to play Splinterlands because it is probably the most reasonable thing to do. Why? I have cards that I have compiled using real-time assets.

The majority of my first soulbound cards were gathered using real asset cards, so even though they have no dollar value, they can be used to earn SPS and win Guild games, both of which earn SPS.

Imaginary Value For Soulbound Cards

I have been gathering soulbound cards for over two years, and some of them are level 9 and 10. They are not transferable, but they may still have more intrinsic value within the game.

Imagine being able to rent soulbound cards for pennies, perhaps a complete set of soulbound summoners, and offering this opportunity to new users, or discovering new ways to add value to soulbound cards.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. However, even though most of my soulbound cards have no value, I treasure them because I have been working on them for far too long. They are assets that I have worked hard to create, and they have already helped me earn cards.

Although I may be overly praising these cards, it is important to remember that staked SPS is why these cards can actually earn you any SPS.

Card Value

In reality, most of my splinterlands cards have lost over 90% of their value since I purchased them in 2021, but because I enjoy the game and it would be unreasonable to sell them, I still believe earning SPS with them is the only way to continue gaining value from them.

I have paid 2k DEC to continue playing in Wild, even though I do not think it is a worthwhile investment, but I keep doing it because selling off my cards would be terrible, and not paying 2k DEC to continue would also be a bad decision.

So, I finished in Gold 1 and earned more than 76k glints.

Olivia Of The Brook

I got three epic cards and have them here. The good news is that I have another Olivia of the Brook, and I only need two more cards to get this monster to level two. Olivia is one of the most dangerous soulbound cards ever minted, and with her mimic ability, you can virtually destroy opponents.

I can not wait to get her to level 2, but I need two more BCX.

The other rewards were pretty much regular and nothing too exciting. I did not earn as much Glint as I would have liked, which is unfortunate because I do not have enough staked SPS and my card levels are still too low.

Earning 100 to 150k glints would be preferable, but it would necessitate more staked SPS, which I currently lack. I thank the people who have helped me so far with delegated SPS; they have been the reason I have earned some decent glint and SPS.

Gladius Case

I got a Gladius case today with some merits, nothing exciting, but it does add up with time. Overall, last season looked exactly like the previous two seasons, with the exception that I am now two Olivia away from level 2.

I purchased the Wild pass because I needed to play in the Wild for 2K DEC. Most people are probably playing for fun, and I am mostly doing the same.

I starting to question my sanity for continuing to put money into the game. To unlock some of the last soulbound cards costs a fortune, well in excess of $100 worth of DEC. Am I willing to dump that much more into the game only to see those cards lose value as well? Not right now for sure.

Good job on picking up another Olivia, I have the same problem. I need two more to upgrade her as well. And I need one more Quora to bring her to level 3 buy I keep pulling everything but Quora... sigh....

The only bright point really is that SPS is slowly climbing, I hope it's a trend that continues. I'm worried about the game's future quite a bit right now...

I don't think I'll ever unlock soulbound cards, maybe God willing, during the bull run, I'll try it. But 100$ is already a lot of money, but I won't question your sanity, you might still earn some money when they go up in price and you can sell it off..

SPS gives us a lot of hope, and this has taken away all that bearish vibes.

I'm still happy playing the game :-) A lot of issues have been fixed, and I feel like we have reached rock bottom and are now crawling back up, step by step. Thank you for your post and good luck!

Well I think SPS recovery looks good, but the prices of the cards are not doing great, although yes, we might have technically hit rock bottom, let's see how it goes

I am playing it because it is fun and partly because it was what brought me to Hive. I don't spend as much time there either and my deck value has dropped quite a bit as well. Overall, if I consider the cost I put in, I am still profitable so I have never really looked at it too much. I do think that the changes are forcing people to the newer cards and they are devaluing the older cards.

I have looked at the cost and I'm still in 90% loss. However, I think it's still as entertaining, although less entertaining as it was one year ago. I don't really earn much with my guild, and I have some older cards that have mostly lost a lot of values

To respond to the question in the title: sometimes it is for fun, most times it is out of habit, and one important reason - to protect my investment. You can't be fully passive in Splinterlands and expect the same results as if you are active, at least to some degree.

You just have to make your assets work for you, and that's probably a huge reason to continue playing. I mostly agree because that's why I'm personally still playing. Since the value of the cards are dwindling why not play with them
