Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Coastal Sentry is an amazing damage dealer
Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of Coastal Sentry and the damage it can put out.
Featured cards
Coastal Sentry is a neutral splinter that costs 10 mana and it starts with double strike. It learns piercing at level 6 and knock out at level 10. I have this card at level 5 and I think it's a very useful card due to the double strike. The amount of damage this card can out out is quite large due to the base stats.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Maneuvers and Heavy Metal. This means that all monsters start off with reach and only units with armor can be used. There are 32 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, earth, life, or death splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Kelya Frendul | 4 | Summoner | +1 speed and armor |
Diemonshark | 8 | 1st | Enrage and Trample |
Coastal Sentry | 10 | 2nd | Double Strike |
Hardy Stonefish | 1 | 3rd | |
Moxian Rebel | 4 | 4th | Weapons Training |
Noa the Just | 5 | 5th | Rust |
Total Mana: | 32 |
Kelya Frendul increases my armor and speed by 1. My Tank is Diemonshark due to the enrage and trample. Coastal Sentry is up second as my damage dealer and it can attack due to the ruleset. Next is just some filler monsters. Moxian Rebel does give weapons training and Noa has rust.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match can go either way but I do have the advantage. My damage is focused on the front most monster while my opponent's is spread out, but the ranged monsters damage can add up over time.
Round 3
Both my opponent and I lost one monster. It hurts to lose Noa so early because the armor will make killing the monsters slower. I still have the advantage but anything could happen if those ranged monsters don't miss.
Round 4
At this point, my opponent and I are down to our last few melee monsters. If I don't miss any attacks, I will win this match otherwise, there is a chance I could lose due to that blast ranged monster.
I ended up winning the match a few turns later because I didn't miss any attacks. The speed advantage gave me the first attack against Quora.
Conclusion
The battle this time around didn't go as I expected, but I barely managed to win. Coastal Sentry was a big factor in me winning this match because of the damage that it put out. It let me kill off the tank early on and killed off quite a few monsters before it died. I wasn't expecting my Noa to die so early on though because it made killing off the rest of the monsters harder without the rust.

That's a great card but weak to magic, it's good in second position otherwise it die easy
I agree. Unless it's in the 2nd position or further out, I don't think it will survive long.
Coastal Sentry is great, I do have some regrets about maxing it out and giving it 5 melee attack. That made her a lot less useful against monsters with force shield like Salty Bear...
I never considered it, but I guess force shield could be an issue. I remember not liking it as much when I had some inspire monster and they had forcefield.
