Crochet Granny Square Tote Bag.
Hello hello community!✨
It's a pleasure to share with you my just concluded project with granny squares. Each time I work with granny squares, there's always this ecstatic feeling.
Last Monday, I shared the process of making heart motif granny squares from start to finish. If you missed it, you can check this out. These heart motif granny squares were to be used to make a tote bag. Something similar to a tote bag I saw online. However, I used different colours because of the purpose with which I was making the bag–school. Unlike many others, I do not like drawing attention to myself. The fact that I'm with a crochet tote bag brings enough attention on its own.
Just like I envisioned, I took the bag to school today and everyone was wowed. The number of people who liked the bag were a lot and some others who didn't like it said that I should have used a brighter colour for the hearts
For the bag, I made a total of eighteen heart motif granny squares. I used nine on each side. After finishing the granny squares, I joined each granny square interiorly using single crochet stitches. After that, I made the handles and stitched them into the right positions.
Completing this project signifies yet another milestone on my crocheting journey. While making the hands of the bag, I made over a hundred chains with ease. During this process, I smiled because I remember the very first crochet bag I made. I had to make one hundred chains for the bag and that felt like an impossible task. Here I am a few months later, making chains with ease. Somehow, I feel like the chains were the easiest part of the whole project.
I just couldn't wait to use this bag. The excitement was just over the roof. A friend of mine got the bag from me immediately she saw it and hasn't returned it yet. I would probably be getting it back after lectures, hehe.
Now that I think of it, crochet granny square projects are not so bad and maybe sometime soon, I would be making something bigger with it. Someone suggested a palazzo. Let's see how it all plays out .
In the meantime, what do you think of this tote bag? Do you think I should have used a brighter colour for the hearts or they are just fine? I would love to hear your views.

Wao! This looks good on you. It makes me remember those day when I learnt how to knit. It was so fun to do but can also be stressful at time.. kudos dear friend
You're right, it can be stressful and time consuming.

Yeah, have a lovely day ahead
I would love me a bag like that, easy to carry around and it being hand made just add to how delicate I will handle it, I don't know much about knitting, but the little knitting I did while in highschool shows how much work you put into making this pretty bag. Kudos! To you.
Thank you so much dearest. I really appreciate your appreciation 😄.

Wow, how beautiful the bag is, I like the combination of colors, the external color highlights the hearts, it is perfect to go out for a walk, it looks very elegant and delicate, you did a great job that requires patience and dedication.
Happy and blessed week!

I love it just this way. I'm not a fan of bright colors too and this is really perfect.
Please make that palazo and make it fitted at the waist but really big underneath I am imaging what that will look like.

Thank you @lauramica✨
Hello Wongi. This bag looks beautiful, it must be great to make all those little squares and then put them together to transform them into something more. Congratulations! I love the colors, I think they look great like this ❤️.
Thank you so very much. Putting squares together to form something big is sometimes very taskful. I'm glad you like it this way❣️
Wow, this is so beautiful
Thank you so much✨
This looks great dear, I love the colour.
Honestly, you did a very good job, making granny squares is one of the hardest things to crochet for me.
I find it very hard to sit and repeat the same pattern several times 😆
Oh you're right, it can be very tedious.
I'm glad you like it though 😊
Simply the Best is what you are wongi 💙
Those people are wrong... 💜 is so perfect with black!
Aww🥺. Thank you so much🌼
Oh you are welcome but you knew this all already 🤣
Yes, you made sure of it😂
haha well I never heard any complaining🤓
And there wouldn't be any.
Now that I like to hear, or in that case not hear 🫡
I love the way it turned out, beautiful!
Thank you so much 🌼😊
This is so pretty. I always think of big granny square projects as stressful. Now that I think of it, 18 squares are not so many after all. I think I’ll be crocheting a granny square bag soon.
I would love to see it🌼. And making the squares aren't so hard but the repeatitions can get boring and annoying even.
That’s what I’ve always dreaded, but since I’m more set to trying it now.
