Greetings to you all on this beautiful Monday, I hope you all had a nice weekend just as I did, it's so great to be here today to share with you all in this community @needleworkmonday the making of this simple and stylish gown outfit for my mother in-law for a burial service we will be attending this weekend.

There is this burial service to be attended by the family this weekend, it's the burial of a grand uncle in my husband's family and for this, it's calls for a celebration of a life well spent and the family decided to choose a specific fabric to be worn by those who intends to attend the burial as a uniform, that's how it's been done here and we were given this fabric as well.

As a seamstress, I volunteered to make mine, my husband and that of my mother in-law, for today, I just finished the making of my mother in-law dress, which is a simple gown with V-shape ruffles on the front and a short sleeves.

Let's get started with the cutting and sewing process

From the 4yards of Ankara fabric, I folded it in 2 with the hip circumference divide by 4 plus 2" ease and seam allowance then I marked the shoulder divide by 2, the neck width and depth, the armhole circumference divide by 2, the bust, waist, and hip circumference divide by 2, all plus 2" ease and seam allowance then the hip measurement was same at the full length. It was then cut out.

It was placed on another folded fabric as I cut out the back.

From the fabric, I cut out a long piece of 7", it was folded in two on the right side as I sew in down, then on the front bodice, I marked a V-shape down to the under burst measurement and I pleated the piece on it just as I marked the V-shape.

To cover the rough edges, I sew a matching color bias strip on it following the V-shape and it was really nice.

The front and back were sewn together with 1" seam allowance and set aside as I went ahead to cut the sleeves and side pocket.

I cut out a basic sleeve from the fabric and sew it to the armhole circumference

The side pocket was cut out and sewn to the right side of the gown just for me to minimize the fabric so that the remaining pieces will be use for head gear.

The sleeves and pocket were sewn to the gown and this is the final outcome after I hem the full length by 1" with a slit on both sides for easy movement.

I hope you like the simplicity and beautiful outcome of the dress I made for my mother in-law.

Subsequently, I will be sharing the making of mine and that of my husband's outfit in my post, stay connected.

Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post.
