You never know whats in store

So we should be grateful for what we have

image.png

This news came in few days back, a friend in office is in desperate need of funds, for the Immunotherapy treatment of her son, struggling a battle with Cancer Stage-4 (High Risk Neuroblastoma). It was detected in June 2023, since then, they have taken care of all the treatments and are exhausted with their finance. Doctors have advised to start Immunotherapy (Dinutuximab beta - anti GD2) that may help in reducing recurrence chances by 10-15%, Unfortunately there is no medical coverage for this treatment and the amount estimated is also huge - 95 lakhs. So they decided to raise a Fundraiser campaign, and all of our office staff have not only actively contributed, but also shared the campaign with family and friends, to contribute whatever they can. Being a small company with a little over 200 people, in which most are serving for decades, most of us personally know each other. It's like an extended family, so almost everyone has stepped in to make this a reality.

I have contributed a little from my side, and I like to help people who I know closely. Now a days charity has even become a business, and we get many such calls to help someone, which I politely deny, because I like to help some really needy people whom I know personally. I have another very close friend, who has survived from near death, and at one time, we all friends emptied our bank account to just save him. At one point he almost gave up, but I pushed him to try Homeopathy, whose cost I bear on a monthly basis. It has been more than six months, and he is feeling much better. May be I will write more about him in another post, but what I want to say in this post is that, if you interact with such people on a daily basis, then you will come to know, what Life is for them and why we should be grateful for what we have. Recently one more colleague even lost their 9 year old child to Cancer, after fighting the battle for more than a year. At times, when we get stressed about our job or finance, I remind myself about the status of these people and be thankful to God for what we have.

The kid has gone through hell, and was admitted to hospital recently, but the good news is that he is feeling better now and has been discharged now. The campaign has now reached 74% of this big goal and hopefully, with a little more love and support, they will be able to raise the fund and go ahead with the treatment. Milaap is also offering an 5% matching on all donations, creating a 1.05X impact, so that little help also counts.

I know the parents personally, and if you want to contribute for a good cause then here is the Fundraiser Link:

Please tag me in posts or comments for your contributions. Personally I believe, if you do good, then good will come back to you.

Really, life is not easy for those who are nursing one ailment or the other. We should be grateful for what we have.
It's good to be a caring and supporting friend to such people.

This is such a benevolent act. I know you are a kind-hearted and helpful person. I hope the remaining 24% is funded soon. Helping the needy is the best accomplishment of benevolence. I wish he recovers soon. Cancer is always painful. One of my relatives passed away last week at the age of 62 in Bhubaneshwar. When I hear such news, I always reinforce the belief & commitment that Health is the real wealth.

Cancer sucks. I know first hand. I am sorry they are having to go through this, but it is nice that you were able to help a little. Sometimes it's hard to know if they are going to be good custodians of the money or not.

I know the parents personally, she works with us and they are real parents, not custodians.

Your office friend's son needs a lot of money to save his life, I am happy to know that you have also donated. May humanity awaken. I am thinking that even after doing so much, the boy would have survived. Medical care has become very expensive, very deplorable. Life is very difficult.

Contentment is the key to a happier life but few people know about this' there want more and in doing so they remain ungrateful. You support these people in need and am grateful for that

That's so sad. How old is he? My niece, who's just 24 years old, passed away three weeks ago from oral cancer.

You know, friend, I was very close a few months ago with my younger sister's illness. She was fighting every day and if it weren't for the many people who extended their hand to us today, maybe we wouldn't have her with us, but thank God. He gave us his blessing, we are together and fighting. That's why when I have the opportunity to collaborate in any way with a noble cause, I don't hesitate and contribute a little in gratitude for what they did with my family.
