LOH CONTEST 203 - Movies To Relax On A Weekend

I'm a sucker for movies and sometimes my movie choices seem to be weird to some people. I always wonder why because, to me, it's just a classic movie that I feel will never fade with time.

Maybe because my choice of favourite movies is the old classic ones. They just have this thing they do to me, and even though people see them to be old, I see them as timeless.

Well, that doesn't apply to all old movies but to a few of them, which I'll gladly watch again and again while cuddled up in bed on a beautiful weekend.

The first one is "Friends"

Oh my Goodness, I can just explain what this TV series that aired from 1994-2004 does to me. This comedy sitcom has an effect on me that glues me to the TV anytime I see it. And the magical thing is that no matter how repeatedly I watch it, it just feels new to me the next time.

The series just navigates around six friends trying to survive in New York while battling with work-life challenges, love and sticking together etc. The humour, the sarcasm, and the wholesomeness in one movie are what I can't just phantom. And just as the name sounds ‘Friends", it portrays these close-knit six groups of friends.

And oh, the cast is amazing; I don't really want to delve further into it, but for me, it's a good pick for a perfect weekend of relaxation and laughter.

The next one is "Bel Air"

Okay, wait, I know I said I'm a sucker for the old movie, but there's a backstory to this one.

Okay, so the recent ‘Bel Air’ was actually what I found interesting, not until I got to know that it was a reboot of an old classic that had Will Smith on it (yeah, I'm a huge fan). Then I had to surf back to see the old and compare it with the reboot, and I was impressed.

Both of them so nicely for me. But I still think the old one was better. (Don't blame me, maybe I'm cursed with the love of old, classic movies)

Oh, and the fact that they had to use some fine actors like Jabri Banks, Adrian Holmes for the reboot and Will Smith in the original was what got me glued to my screen all day, and I'm willing to see it again on a beautiful weekend.

Lastly, to bring it down to my local movies.
And that's my Nollywood "Flawsome"

I don't know how to explain it, but you've got to see this series, and it's not a classic. I think it was produced two years ago or so. But to me, I feel like it has a combination of "Friends" stitched to it.

It is not like the plagiarized storyline, but it talks about friendship, family, work life and career women. Just a similar theme.

But ‘Flawsome’ focuses on women changing the narratives in their various sectors of the economy.

It's not just entertaining but educating. I can say that I never knew how difficult PR work could be, but with the movie, I learnt a whole lot. There's a whole lot of tactical ideas from a woman like me.

With cast members like Ini Dima-Okojie, Helen Enado Odigie, Bisola Aiyeola and Sharon Ooja.

Seriously, kudos to Nollywood for that movie.
