Ecotrain QOTW: My Favourite Experience With Nature

(Edited)

There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature-the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter. —Rachel Carson

Growing up, I never actually liked nature, it might sound silly, but whenever I thought about nature, I associated it with the things that crept and crawled, so I tried my best to avoid it.

To me, I never saw a reason why I should have enjoyed nature and for the longest time I lived a life without noticing the beauty of nature; I never saw the skies because I was stuck looking down at my phone and whenever I was forced to stay outside for too long, well, I had a million things to say, but things changed around 2018.

For the most part, I would consider 2018 the worse year in my life because it was the period my father fell sick again and I lost him but, his death brought me closer to nature in ways that I couldn’t fathom.

You see after my father died came drama, as most Nigerians would understand, when someone dies, family comes around and they grieve with those who have lost, but in our case, his family came with an agenda and since we as his children never associated with them due to multiple reasons, they wanted to frustrate us.

From the moment they got to our home, all I heard was quarrels and it was hard because I hadn’t even dealt with seeing my father die; he died at home so I was one of the first people to see him.

At one point, I couldn’t breathe and I decided to go out and just sit, it wasn’t exactly a plan to sit in nature, but my mother loved plants and trees, so I didn’t exactly have a choice.

I went to a part of our house and sat in the trees, hoping that they would hide me and surely they did but they didn’t only hide me but, I experienced something that to date I can’t explain; I heard my father speak to me.

Even writing it seems a bit crazy because I don’t know if that is possible but when I heard him, I felt peace for the first time in a long while and it came with a feeling of safety.

To date I can't understand it at all and sometimes I wonder if it was my mind playing tricks on me but, regardless, that is my favourite experience with nature, because it didn’t only increase my appreciation for nature and it also spoke directly to my heart which is what I have been experiencing anytime I am in nature.

It’s been almost five years since my father died and whenever I go and sit in this garden, I feel calm and at peace no matter what is going on in my life, and this shows the importance of connecting with nature.

Nature is such a beautiful and calming phenomenon that brings healing, reduces stress, alleviates anger and it can be so much more if you want it to be, at least I know it has been to me.

hey sweetheart :)

It look like your images are all taken by you - but I don't think I saw that mentioned on your post anywhere. Would you mind editing your post so that it states that all the images were taken by you! (hehe if they were, of course) And if you did use other photos, please state in the post which cc0 licensed site that you used them from?

Thanks so very much! As you know, before we can screen posts in to DreemPort - we need to verify that there are no images that break copyright! hehe

Thanks lovely lady! I'll screen your post in as soon as you let me know its been updated! ❤️

I usually source it if it's not mine but when it is, I barely do 😆 I guess I need to learn to.

Thank you so much.

That is the single most beautiful and heartbreaking post I’ve ever, ever read. Oh, lord its so, so hard to lose the people we love, especially when there’s added conflict to frustrate grieving. I have experienced something similar myself, so I totally understand where you’re coming from. I’m so glad to hear that you found solace in nature. FANTASTIC POST
Thank you for posting in the EcoTrain community

It was indeed so hard especially since I had too many regrets but I am glad, I found solace and I am gradually getting better, not there yet though.

Thank you so much for reading and thanks to ecotrain also.

I can't imagine the peace that must have rushed through you and calmed every anxiety - to hear your father's voice.

And no - i don't think it was imagination at all. I think it was the voice of your father as a kindness from the Lord.

And what a gift he gave to you! A love for nature in a new way! Want to hug you right now! ❤️

It was an amazing moment, I'll never forget it and when you say it like that, it seems very possible.

Regardless of whatever happened, I am so glad for it.

Thank you so much dreem.

It's an interesting experience you had there @khaleesii. Finding calm in the midst of such chaos caused by family at the death of a relative at the foot of tree, I would say, that's supernatural.

Your post is as beautiful as it is heartbreaking.

I do hope you are over it all.

The drama that comes after the lost of the head of family is so tragic and very much annoying! I can relate though!
Fighting over property that wasn't there's right from time, saying what they won't say when he was alive, oppression here and there woah! It can never change at all!

Life comes and goes! So sad you lost him darling!

What can nature not do?
So appealing and lovely it's like our mother nature who welcomes us with hands open telling us it's alright!! Isn't this beautiful and quite mysterious that no matter your thoughts 💭 and pains, once you come to mother nature everything floods away! Incredible!

Nice post by the way!
See you next time!

It was no mind trick dear. It happened and I believe it did. We all have to experience that moment at some point; the supernatural.
