TROLLS: BAND TOGETHER
Title: TROLLS BAND TOGETHER
Yeah, it's been a slow week, sue me. The great thing about the Trolls movies is that, like the Muppets, there are jokes that go right over the heads of the kids and hit the parents square in the face.
The plot is simple, as it's a kids movie. Troll Brothers form a popular boy band, after a disastrous attempt to find the "Perfect Harmony", they break up and go their separate ways. Years later, one of them is captured by evil popstars who are using the Troll's essence to turn themselves into a popular singing duo. The band of estranged brothers get together to rescue him, chaos ensues.
The music is 80s and great. Everything from Eurythmics, Sister Sledge to America. Unfortunately, they are all covers and might as well have all been done with AI given the massive use of auto-tune. Justin Timberlake was involved and stars alongside Anna Kendrick and a host of others.
The Easter Eggs are hilarious with the names of Boy Bands being used in common conversation. "If we don't all get NSYNC, we will end up on the BackStreets". That sort of thing.
Fun: Fun for the kids, enough for the adults to keep them from eating their own shoes.
Preachy: Not really. Like most children's movies, it's all about Family.

My daughter loves this saga. I confess that the first time we sat down together to watch it, I thought: "So much glitter, so much glitter...this is going to be a disaster of anime."...nothing could have been more wrong. I ended up hooked to the screen.
Trolls has that unique charm of entertaining both children and adults. And yes! It's interesting how a seemingly simple movie aimed at a child audience can include subtleties and jokes that will resonate more with adults.
Also, the use of 80s music is indeed a fascinating aspect. And the puns on the names of boy bands...😍 Those details make a children's movie enjoyable for the whole family.
It is. I was hooked too when I saw it haha. I loved and enjoyed it. It was worth my time I won't lie.
Just when I thought they no longer film something catchy, this one came through haha
