Khao Soi

Khao Soi! One of probably the most delicious dishes from northern Thailand. At least, for my own liking and a lot of other foreigners I have talked to. Why so? The noodle dish with a flavorful coconut curry with spices topped with other topping like crispy egg noodles and pickles. It's soooo damn good! I love it like a lot!

When we went up north on our last trip, one thing I'm most excited for is this dish as I knew I would be finding so many good ones and yes, I did! This one is probably one of the best Khao Soi I have tried so far!

Khao Soi Jae Lek

We found this Khao Soi shop from a TV show online and also from some articles online. It's been around for 2 generations so that probably tells it's probably that good. They serve mainly Khao Soi (The heavenly delicious coconutty curry noodle dish) with both chicken and beef. Our fav is beef one! Also a few other snacks or appetizers like wontons or meat balls.

I personally love their Khao Soi the most among what they offer (duh!). Especially, the beef one. We ordered double so hello there, 2 people 1 appy, and 3 Khao Soi, crazy! if you ask me.** The beef is really well marinaded and almost melt in your mouth**. Love how flavorful the curry soup is. It's not so thick as curry and it's not that light like soup, it's in between. Quite nice! Such a nice contrast with some salty and sour pickles and the crunch texture as well.

Khao soi snack!

One think I was a little disappointed is that I didn't have a chance to try their invention. They have this product that's more like chips or snacks made from the egg noodle they use in Khao Soi. That noodle deep fried and seasoned and packed nicely in a modern package. I have never seen anywhere sell that so really wanted to try but turned out, the family factory was closed due to Covid so, oh well!

Do visit if you ever make it to Phrae! They have a few locations as well but this one we went to is the original one.
