Kakanin as our Morning Snacks: Soft Sapin-Sapin with Toasted Coconut and Pilipit Malagkit with Crunchy Caramelized Sugar
I am at the garage and still thinking if I will go with Mama in the Park tonight or not. I'm still undecided because of my fears. I'm still trying to convince myself. I really hope I gain courage later to go in there. And the reason why Mama wants to go in the park is to watch the "Pailaw" or the Bansud Lights Adventure 2024. The original schedule is on December 1, but it was moved due to the bad weather. But now that the weather is okay again, Mr. Sunny shows up, and so Bansudeños are super excited and happy.
This is what we had last year, it's different from 2022 too. Every year they change the designs of each village here so that everyone will something have to look forward to. Even I'm so excited to see what's new this year. The last time we went to the park, they are still not done with the designs. I already know that it will be an amazing one again, but I want to see it with my own eyes. Should I go or should I go? Lol.
Thinking made me hungry, and its the right timing that the Sapin-Sapin woman pass by. Then she caught me looking at her, so she asked me if I wanted to buy. Lol. Seeing her walk with the heavy stuff in her head and hands urges me to buy some. But after seeing her sapin-sapin, it became my reason to buy, not just one but two kinds of kakanin. Lol. I should be getting just the Pilipit, eh, but the Sapin-Sapin looks really tempting. I know how she's good at making her kakanin, so I didn't think twice, I got one sapin-sapin and the pilipit.
Look at that! That sapin-sapin has two colors, but the taste is just the same. No flavoring or what. It is made with glutinous flour, coconut milk, sugar, and food coloring. This one's really good, especially if they use pure glutinous flour on it. Then there is Pilipit Malagkit, which is also made with glutinous flour. Mommy D once made this, and it is not as easy as I thought it would be. It is like a twisted donut because of its appearance, but it is made with glutinous flour. Then it will be dipped in caramelized sugar. And that will give flavor to the pilipit. It's also one of the best!
By the way, sapin-sapin comes with what we called Budbod, or toasted coconut. It is sweet too, and it goes really, really well with the sapin-sapin. It is like the budbod gave flavors to the sapin-sapin.
Here's the beautiful sapin-sapin, it is so sticky but soft. I super love the texture. It melts in my mouth. I think I can eat the whole thing, but my stomach is not good with sticky food, so I stop myself from doing it. This size costs me 50 pesos, or $0.85. For the taste, the size, the budbod, and even the spoon and the styrofoam, I say it is super worth it. I also think it is cheap, I'm wondering if she can still gain profit from this ( ・ั﹏・ั). You can just eat even in the street or everywhere, seeing that it is already a complete package. I hope she already sold everything.
Here's the Pilipit. I love that the Pilipit is not that sticky, I think they mix all-purpose flour on it too. I already tried the pilipit with pure malagkit on it before, and it is sticky, I have to chew it thoroughly. I prefer this one here, I also love the crunch from the melted sugar. They are the best combination. I'll buy this again if I have spare money with me. Ehe. Are you familiar with this food?
