First Time Making Putu Ayu Traditional Cake Recipe
Putu Ayu
Putu ayu is one of the most popular traditional foods in Indonesia. This cake has characteristics that are similar to sponge cake but there is a unique touch to this cake which is combined with grated coconut. Now because it is very similar to sponge cake so this cake has a very soft texture, there is certainly a distinctive aroma that makes me always want this cake.
I got this cake recipe a long time ago from my brother, he used to make this cake at home when I was a kid. Yeah she is very similar to me because we both love to be in the kitchen and make various dishes. Well because yesterday I forgot this recipe, I contacted her again and she enthusiastically informed me of the recipe and said she also wanted it. Unfortunately, our homes are very far apart so I will prepare it for her next time.
Next, I will prepare the ingredients and follow the steps needed to prepare the recipe for this cake.
Ingredients
1 spoon tapioca flour
50 grams of granulated sugar
2 eggs
65 ml instant coconut milk
Pandan paste
¼ teaspoon Sp
¼ teaspoon salt
200 gram grated coconut,
Mold
Preparation Steps
Steam the grated coconut briefly for about 10 minutes, then add a spoonful of tapioca flour and stir until evenly distributed.
Well after that grease the mold with oil then add the grated coconut to the bottom of the mold, don't forget to press a little and set it aside first.
It's time to make the dough, break 2 eggs in a larger container, then add sugar and also Sp.
Mixer at high speed, until the eggs are white and cracked.
Then slowly enter the flour then add instant coconut milk and mixer again.
Add pandan paste and mix again until everything is green and pretty.
Then add the dough into a mold that has been added to the bottom with grated coconut.
Then steam for about 30 minutes, make sure to put a layer of cloth on the steamer cover.
And after 30 minutes how happy my cake rose perfectly.
Result
After it cooled down, I took the cake out of the mold and just look at the adorable result. The coconut layers are so sturdy they blend perfectly with the cake layers. Ahh so glad this recipe worked, even though it was my first time trying it, it was very easy and worked perfectly.
The texture of the cake is very soft as I said above, very similar to sponge cake. But when combined with grated coconut it becomes very authentic and tastes very good, sweet and savory in one taste. I am very happy to have made this cake, my mother also likes it very much, she said that the cake is delicious and very similar to the taste that my sister used to make.
