Molotov Cocktail sketch
I really like working with basic ballpoint pens for sketching. It creates this sketch-style artwork that is really cool and makes for some super stylized artwork. I had an urge to make a sketch today, for one of the cards in The Condemned. I wanted to make something for the Molotov Cocktail, one of my favorite cards in the first set:
Lahiru Jayakody did the original artwork for this card. It's beautiful art, to be sure, and I've used it in other merchandise. But for a promo card, I wanted something different. So I sketched this up:
Throwing my pen across the page, I built up layers of light and dark, to highlight certain areas. Took me about an hour or so to throw this together. It's certainly not the high end artwork that you would see on other cards, but that's the point. It's supposed to look like a rough sketch. That's intentional. The end result when I threw it into a promo card was actually pretty good!
Part of the problem is that my card frame obscures a good chunk of the artwork. That said, I'm quite happy with this end result. I'm planning on giving out The Ripper for a while longer, to get more of them out into circulation, and then I'll start ordering these to go out to stores as prizes. I plan on having multiple promo cards to go out to stores for organized play as the game progresses and people play in more tournaments and events.
I'm doing live demos at two stores near me: Highlander Games in Blaine, and Adventure Loot Games in Mound. Highlander just took over Outpost 2000, and moved into the new space last week. I'll be doing my first demo there this Saturday! If you know a game store that wants to sell The Condemned, have them get in touch with me. I'll do what I can to get the game on their shelves. But that's going to wrap up this post from me. Have a great evening!
Holy Moly!!! Does this Card also deal Fire Damage?
Also that Guy looks Cute... NGL.
Yes, the card's damage type is Fire. Fire's identity involves spreading itself around, hitting secondary targets. The Molotov Cocktail, in particular, is a de facto board wipe. Solid card across the board, but still balanced enough to be decent at what it does.
That's GRip. He's one of the first Condemned, and has a pretty tragic backstory.
Of course, I always go for the People that have Tragic Backstories. What else is New?
Maybe. Someone could go into the backstories of each Condemned. Also, make sure to Update Us on the New Content on YouTube or 3Speak?
Regardless, the Arts Look really fine.
Yeah, I've been meaning to do up posts on my website covering that in depth. Actually, I have some plans already in motion regarding this, that aren't quite yet ready to discuss...
